I don't want to become a nurse to end up as a glorified waitress, who doesn't get any tips.

We have billboards with the same type of digital clock on them to let people know what the wait time is at the various hospitals. They're all HCA hospitals.

My "healthcare system" employer does this on the main page of the website, and I think it's a great idea. If there are two hospitals nearly the same distance from you, and one currently has a wait time of 10 minutes and the other has a wait time of 2-1/2 hours, wouldn't you want to know that? Of course, people coming in ambulances go to the nearest hospital (or to the trauma center, as appropriate) regardless. There's also a statement on the website alongside the wait times encouraging people to visit one of the local urgent care centers if the situation isn't a real emergency.

To those of you whose hospitals do this, do you find the quoted wait times to be fairly accurate?

That I have no idea about.

Some of the facilities are doing it in our city also. And of course, our hospital ER (like the others too, I'm sure) go into the ER for something stable, knee pain times 6 weeks, and when they see the ambulance rush in with a GSW, stabbing, ect ..."But I was here first..." Even see the EMTs come in doing CPR and want a big explanation of why the trauma goes first.

Our local hospital has this also. They've even gone so far as to have billboards up around town with a number you can text to get the current wait times.
