We use long term tubes that can stay in for up to a month.

Ours can stay in a month. They usually get changed out sooner than that though.

We have one that can be in for a month I think. But the one we frequently use is every 72 hrs. I've inserted 3 already and have been on the floor for 5 days.:)

Usually it depends on the manufacturer on how often an OG/NG tube should be changed. The ones we use are good for one month - if they come out before then (or just need to be repositioned) we rinse them out with sterile water before reinserting them.

Every seven days, unless the wee darlings pull them out before that!

Do you use OG's or NG's most often?

Ours can stay in for a month. I prefer NG tunes whenever possible because they are easier to secure. The OG tubes always want to move in and out and become too wet from the mouth, so I prefer NG's.
We mostly use NGs, but we do use OGs when the baby is on CPAP - it's hard to get that good seal around the nares when there's an NG tube in the way.
I agree with the last few posters, NG tubes are far better to secure and keep in place. But CPAP makes this impossible. It's my uuurghhh thing, an og tube, swinging in the wind, covered in "yuk" from a cpap mouth. As soon as the CPAP is off, my babes have an Ng tube in place! It's so much easier for them to learn to suck with an NG tube.
But aren´t the new borns nasal respirators !? Doesn´t the NG tube make them more difficult to breed?
Not really... the size of the tube is small compared to the size of their nares. Now if you were putting a 10fr down their noses... then yeah - that would probably affect their airway.
