  1. Yes Nightingale is a noooooooo..lol. I encountered 4 nurses down here and they said run like hell. Yes, they tend to put you in extended stays.
  2. I wouldnt say anything either...just wait it out and see..
  3. plus self extubation occur with or without the covers. Sedation is definitely our friends with a fiesty little itty bitties.
  4. We also utilize giraffe homemade isolette covers in our level 3 NICU 36 beds. It is crucial in developmental care. All the concerns you u identified are valid. Even if you r entering a new facility with private rooms there will still be the other noise contributors and nonetheless...lighting. I sleep so much better when its pitch dark. I can imagine the itty bitties will fair better to remain in a simulated environment to the womb as similar as possible.
  5. same here...we have this touch screen laptop on a cart with wheels that parents watch the videos at the bedside. Plus it keep tabs on each patients parent who receive the educational info. I'll find out more on what this system is called. So much better than having to roll that big ol' tv and having to rewind all 3 vhs tapes.
  6. Its sad that he lost both his wife and son due to two separate causes. But his son's death could have been prevented for sure...sad.
  7. CONGRATS!!! You're going to have an awesome time at Frontier Bound. It felt like it was years ago since I was there and its literally has been exactly one month. Again enjoy your time there, Hyden is great place to reflect before you began your journey. I really felt like I was away from the world so to speak, I guess I'm speaking from my urban living regarding a very rural mountainous region. Again CONGRATS!!!
  8. Hey nsjbm, Send your email to my pm and I think I can correspond more in detail this way.-Lunise:)
  9. Thats one of the main reasons I chose Frontier because the program equips you with the necessary skills and tool to becoming an independent provider and opening up your own birthing center which is my ultimate goal:)
  10. Hello Goozgog, I too plan on obtaining my FNP after completing the CNM program. I was advised that it was better to do it this way because if you do it the other way around you're paying more to retake women's health related classes. As in the CNM goes more in depth so it would cover that portion of the FNP program. I do not not have L&D experience either but my passion is midwifery and I feel that it fully compensates. Plus I really dont plan on working in a Hospital setting.:)
  11. I agree not one school can fit every ones agenda. I tend to look into the school's mission and philosophy and it so happened that Frontier fit mines perfectly. At first I was kind of reluctant in having to make two trips but than I realized its ONLY two trips. Plus the Frontier Bound allowed me to meet my classmates, bond, learn about the rich history of the school, and it was great to recieve attentive encouragement. I'm glad you found a program other than Frontier that fits your goals and that you can share your experience with others who are interested in U of C:)
  12. Actually its great if you already have a preceptor in my mind as far as Frontier. But while I was at Frontier bound they gave each of a list of potential sites where previous Frontier students have done their clinicals. Base on your geographic locations some were shorter or longer than others. Like I had 5 possible sites to look into. And some have to do investigation or relocating for a couple of months and bang out the clinical requirements.
  13. Hey Jen, Congrats in completing your application. I just got back home from Frontier Bound and I am glad I chose this school and you will too. As for me I was emailed and directed to schedule a phone interview. Good Luck!
  14. :yelclap::w00t::anpom:CONGRATULATIONS Epiphany! hopefully to be in ur shoes in two years:)
