Hi I will be done this Decmeber with all the requirments to get into the program at Oakland Community College. I was wondering for the people who are in the program or on the wait list these questions:
*how long have you been waiting
or
*how long did you wait
and
*what your gpa is/was?
Thank you!
I just would like to know how long I will have to wait since they do not tell you how long you wait they just say it depends on your gpa.
Yes, they all must be completed before applying, however since the application deadline is (I'm ballparking since it's not in front of me) around Dec. 15, you may be ending a semester, and they will wait for those grades to come in. Yes, most transfer but you are better off checking with the evaluations office just to make sure. Or you could always call counseling--they are really helpful! Good luck!
I applied in April of 2008, got accepted in March of 2009 and had a nursing gpa or 3.62.
OCC stops accepting applications in December and let the students know who got in in March. So if you finish in the winter, you can apply and find out in under 3mnts and possibly even start the accelerated track in May if you so choose and are accepted into it. I waited a total of about 17mnts but only because I applied almost a year before I found out I got in.
The standard track starts in the fall. I am now in my second semester OB rotation
do you have to have all those core classes done before applying? And do you know if most of those classes transfer from other colleges (like macomb)
You have to complete all your pre-requisites before applying. Your classes can transfer but if it a tie in GPA between you and someone else, they will take the person who completed the most credits at OCC.
Anyone who still has to take A&P, dont go to Highland Lakes! The Lab is complete Hell. The models come with and without
keys, with and without lables on the model, with and without structures they are supposed to have, I could go on and on. I
went to both Labs this week and still dont have it together. I got a 97 on my first exam and an 87 on my second exam
and my professional opinion (as a student) is that Lab is more about games and solving mysteries then learning Anatomy.
I cant even think about whats going on for the next Lab because I have to study for my Lecture exam and Im sick with an
ar infection.
I second what Anne said. In A&P1 I got a B+ and then two C's on my lab exams! I got an A in the class only because of lecture grades and some extra credit. The dean came in our A&P2 class a few weeks ago and admitted that the keys don't match, some don't even have keys to begin with, and that's it's a problem we're basically SOL with. I just got a 73% on my 2nd lab in A&P2 that I studied for. I still have an A currently standing only again, because of lecture grades, but this pisses me off!!!!!
And for the poor people who are doing just ok in lecture, lab will completely screw them over.
I went to the information meeting today at Highland Lakes. The GPA from 2008-2009 went up by 2 whole grade points. From a 3.5 to a 3.7 basically.
My question is for anyone in the LPN program. (they focused on the RN program and didnt even have a handout for LPN)
If we apply in Sept, and the start is in Jan, do they mean Jan of 2011, or Jan 2012? Do we wait a whole year, or just a couple months?
Anyone taking pathophys or any other classes while they wait?
