Obamacare and hospitals

I got a plan thru the marketplace. $312 blue cross blue shield plan with $1500 deducatable. No vision or dental. In my state blue cross is the only company on the marketplace exchange. Obamacare has caused a monoplay. By allowing a small number of companies to participate in the exchange. Why did they chose blue cross? Its a fed funded. Fed run program and website. I never heard of any bidding reguarding these marketplace plans. Obamacare is not sustainable. It was designed to push us toward a single payer system. Administered by a private company. Like blue cross for example. Not cool.

Blue Cross is the only insurer offering plans in New Hampshire, and it's actually the state that certifies insurers to offer plans on the exchange, not the federal government. Any insurer who is interested in offering plans in a state can do so, so long as they meet the basic requirements, but in a small state such as New Hampshire there may not be enough business to get multiple insurers interested, this is not unusual in a somewhat free market system, insurers can't be compelled to take offer their product to a particular group of customers, it's up to the company.

Based on the numbers Obamacare is actually far more sustainable than our previous system.

Should the government essentially take over private insurers and require them to offer plans where they currently aren't interested in doing so?

There are alot of misconceptions about obamacare. People claims that pre existing conditions are covered. Read the fine print. They can not deny coverage based on pre existing conditions. But they can still make you wait a time period before paying for pre existing conditions.

Actually they can't charge more. They can only charge individuals more based on a limited set of conditions, such as smoking, and even then the amount is limited.

They also claim that the insurance company cant jacked up your rate. Again that is misleading. They cant willy nilly jack up your rates. But the can increase your rate for justifiable reasons. If you have one bad yr and get sick alot. They can and will jack up your rate.

They are actually specifically prohibited from doing that (unlike before)

It does require free preventative health care. Which is awesome. But they can still charge you a co pay for the office visit to get that free preventative care. Lol free really isnt free then.

No, they can't charge a co-pay for preventative care. The only exception is for "grandfathered" plans, because Obamacare doesn't apply to those plans.

So basically we have a small number of insurance companies that now have a huge influx of customers. Alot of these new customers are young healthy adults. So they charge them an arm and leg knowing damn well the person is healthy and probably wont use hardly any of the insurance. So basically obamacare makes these insurance companies even richer. I mean yea they do have to provide free preventative health care. And provide min coverage. But the extra money coming in will be more than the money spent. Therefore lining the pockets of Blue Cross excs. As a democrat that campaigned for obama. I'm ******! He sold his soul and sold us up the river and never thought twice. Its just insane to me that our govnt requires us by law to buy insurance from a private third party company. What the hell kind of sense does that make? If its going to be mandatory then they need to offer it to everyone for free! I just went to the ACA website. It said individuals making less than $45000 a year MAY qualify for subsidies. I made $42000 last yr. I filled out all the questions on the website. It calculated the amt of subsidy I could receive. It said you qualify for $0 subsidy. I clicked ok. The next screen said that if I do not buy a plan I will have to pay a penalty fee. Seriously. This is a joke. No wonder why other countries laugh at us. We are pretty freaking stupid!
So who really stands to profit from this? Lol and dont even get me started on obama and his connections to Big Pharma!

The "may" qualify for subsidies refers to the fact that not all plans qualify for a subsidy, if you want a subsidy typically it's the silver plan you must chose.

I'm not sure which direction you're going with what you'd prefer. You seem to say at times that you would prefer single payer, but then not. So what would you prefer?

Remember, one of many Nancy Pelosi's infamous sayings of having to pass the bill (NOT READ IT) in order to know what's in it? As a nurse or future nurse, do you recommend just giving medications without READING anything about the medication, side effects, conflicts with other medication? If you believe you must read it, then apply the same logic for democrats who want to pass bills they refuse to read.

Before the lie is told one more time, conservatives provided many alternatives for which blocker Harry Reid refused to bring to a vote.

The ACA was written by the Senate Finance Committee, half of which was made up by Republicans. Most of it's development came out of 31 bipartisan meetings. The bulk of the bill was available to read for months prior to the vote, but of course we never the true effects of any law until we actually implement it which is what Pelosi was referring to. So what where these "conservative alternatives" that Reid somehow blocked even though he wasn't actually on the Finance committee?

Our health care system is unfathomably complex. Any reform will inevitably disrupt current arrangements and create winners and losers, as we are seeing with the ACA. The Republican proposal will give an advantage to some Americans and will put others at a disadvantage. In my opinion, Senators Hatch, Coburn, and Burr are to be commended, however, for moving beyond simply demanding repeal and putting out a proposal, the effects of which can now be debated.

President Obama and the democrats knew all of the above and more were outright lies, and yet they told them to the American people while the partisan democrats passed ObamaCare.

Now, we continue to see narrowing networks as more and more hospitals and doctors refuse to be associated with or otherwise accept ObamaCare (freedom RULES!!!!!), you have ObamaCare insurance companies still working the cards so that people with pre-existing conditions may end up outright dying before they get seen (welcome to SOCIALIZED medicine), employers dropping coverage due to costs, and more and more families like Pat's - CURRAN: One family's Obamacare nightmare - Washington Times -- who are seeing their medical expenses go through the roof due to ObamaCare (100% brought to you by the democrats).

The democrats and President Obama own ObamaCare. Those of us who know SOCIALISM destroys, sucks the very life out of innovation, and desire to improve will remember those facts come Tuesday, November 4, 2014 which is getting closer and closer every day.

It's amusing that you keep referring to the ACA as "socialized medicine," since it is the furthest thing from socialized medicine. Under the plan the Democrats crafted to attempt to make it as palatable as possible to the Republicans (incorporating most of the Republicans demands at the time), we (most of us) are still prisoners of the private-for-profit insurance companies. The ACA is just minor tinkering "around the edges" of the prior dysfunctional (except for the insurance companies, who make out just fine!) system.

How do you define "socialized medicine"? Clearly, it's a lot different than how the term is usually used.

Of course Congress passed the ACA/ Obamacare or whatever you prefer to call it. But Obama pushed it and touted it as the greatest thing since sliced bread. I have read it and its not right. Not sustainable. As someone that campaigned for Obama. handed out fliers. Registered voters. He sold us a bunch of lies gave a generation hope that he would change things for the better. But he didnt. Look at all of his actions. Then look at his campaign contributors. Connect the dots. I thought he was different. I thought he was a good man an good person. He got caught up in partisan politics and to hell with what is best for our country. For our future. So yea I'm upset. This **** runs deep.
