Well, I have a nephew named Talon Trefle (pronounced Treflea) and a neice (different parents) named Heaven LeAnne. I assure you I had nothing to do with the names.
We had a couple a few months ago who named their son Beau Hunter Green. And a few weeks ago I saw my first Atreau. Can't remember the middle name. As soon as he was born I asked his name. The only response I could think of is "I hope you don't mind if I can't remember his name!"

Well I worked as a Pharmacy tech to put myself through nursing school and there was this girl named Vagina I kid you not! I would have changed my name at the first opportunity I couldn't believe it I think she pronounced it a dif way though. There was also this guy with the name Funke pronounced like funky. then the Stanke's like stinky and we always had to call their names over the PA. We had to try hard so hard not to laugh when we did. of course, I could never call them overhead because I would be laughing so hard. I think we should tell these moms:if you don't want your child to be teased then don't name them silly names. I know fist hand because my name is Cherrie, yes like the fruit, and when I was in elementary Cherry-Coke came out and I was the receipient of numerous jokes(kids can be so cruel).

Have any of y'all ever seen the movie/read the book 'Where the Heart Is' ? Character in the movie/book named her kids after food....brownie, praline, cherry, and I forget the last one. Scary how close to reality that actually is.

Well, I have to say that I'm sitting here LMAO at this thread. It may be the wine I'm drinking but the names are definitely a part of it.

In the late 70's and early 80's I lived and worked in Northern California, so there were the Moonglow's and Sunshine's, named by the leftover hippies.

But as recently as 2 years ago, we had a baby named, are you ready?, Ja Kub, in our little hospital in Washington state. Much of our clientele is moderately, if not completely, illiterate, IMHO. But then, we must not be judgmental, right?

Well I have said it more than once.......HUkd on Foiks Wurkd for Me.........
sometimes it isn't so much the name as the spelling. Then the parents get offended when you have to ask them what it is they named the baby because you can't quite get Michael out of Mykale ..........Or even better yet when they select a name and then have to have you show them how to spell. Be sure and write in on at least one piece of paper for them so they will have somethign to work off of thill the birth certificate comes in the mail.:chuckle

There was a pt. who told her physician that the hospital had already named her baby for her. She had a baby girl and her name was Female (pronounced femolly). Obviously this pt. was not quite up to snuff, feel sorry for the kid having to explain that name her whole life!
