Child care and nursing school
hello, ok, so here it goes i just found out that that i am pregnant with my first baby. i had plans to go to ma school this fall but because of my due date being in april i will not be able to finish in time so i have to put my plans on hold until next fall. here is the thing now once the baby is born i will be able to claim the baby on my financial aid application so now i should be able to get the loan that i need to go to lpn program instead. my husband and i are not in agreement of child care. my husband only wants me to the ma program where he can be at home with the baby because it is only on sundays from 9am-4pm and 9 months. however, i want to do the lpn program which is friday, saturday, sunday 9am-4pm. i figure my cousin could watch the baby on friday and saturday. my husband does not feel comfortable with my cousin watching our baby. i trust her she has a baby right now on her own and does a great job not only that she takes care of the babies at the church nursery. i would not have to pay her much either. the thing is that my husband wants to go back to school in 2012 for his master in nursing (crna). i know that i will have to work full-time and pay for most of the bills while he is attending school. i think that being a lpn will allow me with better job outlook and pay if i go this route. i am not sure what to do.

Any LPN/LVN's that was MA's First.
Hello, Here is my story. I have been wanting to do the LPN program first however, I can not affored to this this option first because of money. The MA program at my school is only a 1/4 of the cost. The problem is that my husband who is a RN makes way too much money so I am unable to get much help with loans, grants ect... Also getting into the LPN program at the local community college is so very hard with a ton of students hard to get in. So, I start the MA program at the end of Aug. and willl be done in April. I am hoping that I could find a tjob that will help me pay for the LPN program. My question is that do you feel that you had an advantage being a MA first before going to LPN school? What are your thoughts?

Pre nursing vs nursing which one is more difficult?
To answer your question yes, LPN have to take Med Surg. I believe that LPN's take the same class as RN. The only difference is that it is not as in depth. To be honset the RN program is 18 months (with summer's off). The LPN program is 12 months (no summer's off). Hope that helps!

Some school districts moving to LPNs to save money
Thank you for your posting. I am going to start a LPN program next fall. I allways wonder why schools only hired RN for school nursing. It gives me hope at finding a job!

You know that you are dating/married to a nurse
Hello, I am a prenusring student and I just got invoved with a RN. There are some funny situations that have came up. For example he thought it would be fun if we weigh each other (what girl whats to let her boyfriend know how much weight she is carrying) Or another funny one is that when we were having a romantic moment he kiss my hand and he stated "ooh baby you have nice veins.":banghead: He of course makes sure I carry hand saintizer in my purse when we go out to eat. He also got a little excited when he explain his job as a surgical nurse and how the patients look when they are cut open.

Private or Community college program?
HI, Here is my situation please help I want to know what would you do? Ok, I have been planing to apply for the nursing program at my community college for the Fall 11 or Spring 12 school year. If I am accepted it will not be my choice to start for the Fall or Sring semseter. So that means I will not finish school until June 2013 or January 2014 the cost for this program is about 15,000 (for the actual nursing classes). It will also depend on if I am able to get into the program at all. As we all know community college program competitive. Although I was told that only 6 students did not get in by the director of the nursing program. There is also an option of going to a private college which would cost 35,000 for an RN ASN degree. This cost would not inclued any room or broad to move out of state to attended or any grants or scholarships that I might get. So it might be a little less. Any way I could be finish with this program as early as Oct 2012. Then there is also a big part in me that does not want to leave my family behind. They have been by my side since my husband died of cancer January of this year. I just turn 28 year old widow with no children so I am not tied to anything or anyone. I honestly just do not know what to do. Thanks

Asking about a free LPN program at an employer that i want to apply too
Hello, I just got this job working with people with developmental disablities and I love it. Here is the thing I meet a young lady at my new job during training and she told me about a opportunity for employment at a nursing home as a CNA. She stated that at this nursing home they offer a free LPN program for there CNA's. That they actually pay for you to attended this program. This sound great! I check their website and I did not see any information about this program online. I want to ask the job recruiter about his opportunity. You know what they say they say that you should not ask for benefits before appying to a job. So it does not look like you are applying to a job just for the benefits. I hate to say it but the only way I would leave my job is for an opportunity to go to LPN school for free. I don't want to sound funny but I am a 28 year old broke widow who is trying to put myself though school as cheap as possible. I was thinking of calling in under a different name to asked this information to the recruiter then applying. At the same time I feel like I would be lying. Any advise would be great.

Missed informed people about LPN profession boils my skin
Hello, I am a prenursing student trying to make a decision or not to go the LPN route first or stright for RN. I just started a new job this month and I was talking to the other girls in my training class about the benifits and one of those benifits is tuition assitance. Well there is a private LPN program right in area in which I will be working at. I mention that I might want to do LPN first. Then the comments came you know the ones. LPN's are just CNA's that passed Medciations. That LPN's will be phased out due to CNA's being certifited to passed medications. The other one is that LPN are going to be "phased" out. I explain to these girls that no of the information is correct and the LPN are nures. That most LPN's does about 80% of what a RN does. That because of our aging pouplation that there will be more of a demand of LPNs. But noone believes me what should I do?

Help with Fall classes
Hi, Need help picking out fall classesl OK this is what I need for nursing school at my community college. My application is for the Jan 011 for Fall of 011 The application process goes like this you get a total of 10 points The whole 4 points for GPA of 3.5 or higher is base on the following classes Pysch 101 A&P I English 101 I still have to take Bio 101 and Chem 110 as a requriement. Then if you get all 4 points on the ASSEST test if you passed with all 4 points in English, 4 points Math and 4 points in reading comp. Then you get a 1/2 point for No drop, 1/2 for no D's or F's, and also 1/2 point if you all ready have Assoicates degree and another extra 1/2 point if you all ready have a Bachelor's I can only get a total of 9 points I have no degree. Option 1 Spring 10 Summer 10 Fall 10 Spring 11 Summer 11 Fall 09 A&P 101 A&P 102 Algebra II Soc Speech Eng 101 Algebra I Chem College Alg Hummities Bio 101 PSh 101 Dev PSy Micro pre Algebra The thing with this is I would have to take A&P 101 in the Spring the A&P 102 over the summer (I am not sure if I can handel A&P over the summer). I also would have most of the reqiurments done before next summer. I then think that there might be another duel A&P I and II course in the Spring of 10 that could change up this a little but that depends on if they are going to be offering it, who is teaching it and if it Algebra IIwith my part-time job. or Option 2 Fall of 09 Spring 10 Summer 10 Fall 10 Spring 11 Summer 11 Eng 101 Bio 101 Chem A&P 101 A&P 102 Hummities Psy 101 Algebra I Algebra II College Alg Speech 101 Pre Algebra Deve Psy Soc I kind of like this because I know I can have more time with taking 2 of the classes in which the admissions would be looking at there would be no sciences so I think I can ace English and Psy. Also I would be taking my A&P during the 16 weeks v.s on 8 in the summer for A&P 2. So which one would you do? Thanks
