What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

Anyone from West Texas will appreciate this one. Some of you may even know him. We have a doctor named Dusty Weathers. Not sure if his mother named him that but that is the name he practices under!

My husband told me this story. My husband had a roomate in college whose father was an OB/GYN in a rural hospital. He said he had a patient who had gonnorhea and syphillis. The lady delivered twins and supposedly one child had gonnorhea and the other syphillis. So the hospital tagged them so they wouldn't mix up the meds.

A few weeks later the doctor saw the patient and asked what did you name your babies. The lady said,"Well it is the damnedest thing, the hospital named them for me. This one is gonnorhea (sounded like: Gun nora) and this one is syphillis (sounds like: C phyllis).LOL

Specializes in LDRP.

I am a nursing student, but while I was a lab receptionist I had two patients w/ hysterical names: Fannie Akin and Cherry Beaver. NO JOKING! I laughed everytime I pulled their charts which was often as they were frequent flyers!

Anyway, didnt mean to butt in!

Amy :)
