Okay I work Ob/GYN peds newborn nsy and L&d I have never seen a circ go bad A little bleeding that gel foam fixes maybe. We have a couple of docs that hate to do them so they try to talk the mother out of it. I have two half brothers 14 years my junior, one is circed the other is not, I have spoken to both and they are both happy about the decision that was made for them. I have in the past week seen two infants approx 10mos old return to peds (uncirced) with swollen a infected member because the parents weren't caring for it properly. One was on the verge of having to be circed and the father was upset because he wasn't. The uroligist explained to parents that it had to be properly cared for. We do have some idiots in our region don't care for them and let the foreskin grow shut. Both of my sons are circed and wouldn't changed that choice. Ask any guy that is circed if they remember the procedure?!? Girls we remember childbirth. I think the choice is totally up to the parents.

had a 14y/o come in to deliver a baby with a homemade tatto above her pubic area with a arrow pointing down that said "just at it" attneding nurse said he must not have been literate or we wouldn't be here today!

In Oklahoma when we have a MJ + baby it is not grounds for removal from the home. The peds do not allow them to breastfeed. ETOH, meth, coke, etc are removed from the home. DHS is notified of the situation with the MJ + babies, the parents are so suprised when DHS walks in there room and threatens to take the baby. I have a cousin that works for DHS in WVA asked her if they removed MJ+ babies from the home and her response was "no, noone would get to keep their baby if we did" sad isn't it.

As a new Rn on orientation I was sent to get vitals on a expired patient. The Rn who sent me said "Guess you couldn't get them huh" I wanted to make her expire

We are no longer able to accept adult pts on our peds unit that have MRSA or VRE. A peds pt that was only a few days ols accuirred one of these infections.
