Not the biggest baby I've seen, but the most "memorable" SVD I've been to was a SURPRISE 10#2oz double footling breech. Scary but all turned out well, and mom even just had a teeny 1st degree tear that didn't need repair.

The 12 lb 2 oz was a C-section who had no significant history (no GDM or anything) She was already scheduled but came in hurting 3 days prior to the scheduled date. I assisted and pushed the baby out and my shoulder is still sore. The baby was in NICU after delivery with low O2 Sats. Was on 100% Oxyhood when I left work Friday.

I personally was 11 lb 7 oz. My mom's first was 12 lb 7 oz and posterior. Her second was 10 lb 9 oz, and her last was 11 lb 2 oz.
The doctor started her about two weeks early on all of us but my mom's first (decided after that one that as soon as the baby was ready it was time because he didn't want us too large).
All were SVD.

OK dumb question. Isn't there a procedure where the symphysis pubis is split for dystocia?

My first baby boy was 11lbs 7 and 1/2 oz. lady partsl..no tearing..just a normal episomoty. I have 4 kiddies and the smallest was 10lbs 15oz. No problem. I'm just the child bearing kind I think lol!!

If I had a baby that big, that would be my one and only child. All I can say is OUCH!!!! That is one brave woman.

I have a friend whose last child was 14 lbs at birth. It was a natural childbirth, no meds and lady partsl. Her child is now around my age(27) and was born in a military hospital and she says she thinks that is why he was born lady partslly instead of via c/s. She is a rather large woman(she is still almost all muscle, she is not fat) and she said she had a nice tear and episiodomy but other than that it was fine.
She said she got to return all the cute newborn clothes and dig into her older children's 'bigger' baby clothes. I think she said he wore size 6-9 months at birth.
All I could say when I heard this was OUCH!!!!

We had a 13lb baby last year, and not a sugar baby! Just a big kid, c/s thank goodness. Both mom and dad were big.
