Hey!
I thought I should start a thread for people who applied to the NYU 15 Month Accelerated Nursing Program for Fall 2008.
Lets all be friends while we wait for April 1st to come around!
Does anybody have any info the selection process? Obviously it's competitive, but are they looking at anything in particular? (GPA, Pre-reqs, Extra-curriculars, etc.)

hi!I sent in my check yesterday to NYU so I am def going there! YAYY so keep me updated if you're going !! Do any of you know when the clinic starts??
I sent mine in too a couple days ago!! And good question!! I'm wanting to know about orientation, clinicals, etc! The info-packet they sent with the acceptance letters was for general freshmen & didn't include any details. I guess once they've received your deposit they'll be sending "the goods"!! ......?
no haven't heard anything. I talked to them yesterday and the guy said they made a mistake and thought they were missing one of my transcripts when they actually had it. So he said that he was JUST doing to send my app to the admission committee then, so I will hear within the next two weeks...disappointing. I think I'll call again next week to see if they've made the decision. But yea I am in CA, so I wanted to estimate the total cost which is incredibly expensive and I have to live there. The on campus housing is outrageously priced, but i wanted to live there if I get in because I know nothing about the NYC area. At this point though I might look at other places if I get in. I kind of wanted to do the BSN/MSN combined but I think that might be too expensive. Where do you plan on living if you go there?

I only have experience as an undergrad with financial aid - but I got pretty good package. Also if you have an offer from Georgetown I suggest calling the financial aid office and telling them you have an offer there and you are trying to decide what school to go to - then ask if they can give you an estimate on your financial aid package. Sometimes if they want you bad enough, they will fight for you! That is what happened to me my freshman year. Lots of luck!
As for apartments, if you are undergrad and this is your first time away I suggest dorms. If not, I highly suggest craigslist.org to find an apartment. If you are looking for a roommate the office campus housing website can be useful but I find the rents are often astronomicals. Manhattan rent is crazy, you can get better deals in Brooklyn with a very short subway commute. It all depends on what you prefer/can afford.
