NYU Accelerated Nursing Program 2008

Published

Hey!

I thought I should start a thread for people who applied to the NYU 15 Month Accelerated Nursing Program for Fall 2008.

Lets all be friends while we wait for April 1st to come around!

Does anybody have any info the selection process? Obviously it's competitive, but are they looking at anything in particular? (GPA, Pre-reqs, Extra-curriculars, etc.)

Share your stories and input.

Hi all,

I am unable to attend NYU orientation for the accelerated program due to my crazy schedule at work this summer. Any important information I missed? Did you get any info about where your clinicals will take place or any thing vital such as that?

Thanks in advance for your feedback!!

there was a lot of good information. nothing dire like clinical placement. there is another orientation in late august. I suggest you go to that one.

yes I know about next orientation session but cannot attend that one either. I'm just curious if any one can share any info that might help me prepare for the fall. Thanks!

The orientation was good and it was great to meet other classmates, but you really didn't miss too much. We do not find out about the clinical assignments until the week before school - you'll get an e-mail. You need to wear the NYU purple scrubs to your clinicals. All books and gear will be available at the Health Science Book Store (on E 29th Street). They mentioned that there is no where to leave your stuff during clinicals so bring bear minimum and no valuables that you will not have on you. They also suggested to do a "dry run" to your clinicals and classes as being on time is extremely important!!! In addition, the Health Clearnance forms need to be in BEFORE August 15th, and you'll need to send it to the Health Center and to another person at 246 Greene St (sorry, I'm blanking on her name - I'll get back to you on it!). The administrative people were very helpful and welcoming, and our classmates were all really nice too. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks for the info! Glad I didn't miss too much.

congrats to everyone who made it in!!!:yeah:

i havent even applied yet..still working on prereqs so i probably wont be applying anytime soon!

i know that this may be pretty private, but i was just wondering what your guys' average GPA and average amount of experience/volunteer hours were?

I'm really at a loss as to what kind of GPA and experience I should be maintaining to apply to nursing schools, or if it's even possible to apply if i dont have an incredible GPA.

any information would be great~ thanks SOO much!!

congrats again NYU students!!!

Hi,

To all of you beginning Pace this Fall - big congrats! I've tried to pm but it doesn't seem to be working. I'm living in the city now (with my hubs so no need for a room-mate) but would love to chat with any of you about the year ahead! Also, if anybody knows any current of graduate students of that course it would be great to get their details if poss. Please email me on [email protected].

Cheers,

Mandi
