Hey!
I thought I should start a thread for people who applied to the NYU 15 Month Accelerated Nursing Program for Fall 2008.
Lets all be friends while we wait for April 1st to come around!
Does anybody have any info the selection process? Obviously it's competitive, but are they looking at anything in particular? (GPA, Pre-reqs, Extra-curriculars, etc.)

Hi Michellebk,
About Pace - I think as somebody mentioned before, the more you talk to them the earlier you'll hear. I popped in to see the Graduate Admissions head, Susan Ford - she is really friendly, and I found out a few days later that I got in.
You can just do the BN part in 12 months and decide about the masters after.
I'm still trying to decide between 3 schools, Pace being one of them so if anybody knows anyone currently on the accelerated nursing program it would be great to hear from them.
Thanks
Hi everyone!
I was just wondering if anyone is still looking for a roomate? I am planning on attending the 15 month accelerated program in the fall and am currently looking for a roomate..preferably someone that is also going to be in the nursing school just like me. If you are interested please PM me. Are most people just going into dorms out of curiosity or living off campus?
Thank you Yellowbox!
I've been calling them but it's hard to get passed the people who answer the phone.. they keep telling me that my application is complete and will hear at the end of june. but i will mention susan's name and maybe that will help. thank u!
Lemonz, i too was wondering if people live off of campus and where. I'm from cali so i dont know much about anything. I do have a couple friends who live in nj.. is it possible to commute?
good luck everyone! if i dont get into pace, ill be applying to nyu for winter.

Lemonz,
I don't know if you're still looking for a roommate but I got into accelerated program at Pace University for the Fall quarter today. I dont know how far it is from NYU and how different the housing is, but where are you thinking about staying?
Hi everyone!
I'm starting NYU's Accelerated program in the Fall too, and I'm so excited! It's really great to see that there are so many of us! I must say - all of you are so helpful and encouraging to each other! I hope the rest of our class is like this!
My major concern at the moment is the tuition. Apparently I've hit the ceiling as far as NYU scholarships and Federal Loans go. It really sucks that I'm going to be dependent on private loans, but I know it will all be worth it in the end! Do you guys have any suggestions on different loan carriers? When should I have all this sorted out? Also, should I borrow for the whole length of the program or one semester at a time?
Any recommendations or suggestions would be greatly appreciated (because I have no idea what I'm doing:bugeyes:)!
Oh, and congrats to all who got into NYU's program and all other nursing programs too! And good luck to those of you who are still trying to get into a program!
Meredith
Hello Meredeth,
Congrats!
As for loans go, from the ones I have looked at, Astrive (i know they seem weird from their tv commercials) is the best bet, low interest rates 5.5-6.0 and they send the $$ to you, you don't have to go through NYU to get approved on how much. NYU thinks you only need money for housing and tuition, they seem to forget that people need to eat, buy books, pay for the subway, drink after exams, and get a haircut every now and then...

Hi foodrobot, yeah I was accepted into the NYU program for the fall term, but I think just to take the two pre-reqs I need (A&P and Nutrition) and then I start into the accelerated program in the winter. To be honest my GPA is currently the same right now...3.19. I should graduate with a 3.2 something, but i doubt much higher and was still the 3.19 when I applied. I'm graduating June 15 from Union College in upstate NY. However, I think NYU focuses more on the science pre-reqs and what GPA you have with those...I had mostly As and if not high Bs in the ones I've taken. I don't know a lot about NYU either tho and am trying to figure stuff out as well. I was going to apply for winter session to Pace's Combined degree program too and am still deciding on that. I have all my recommendations and transcripts in and the essay done for it, I just need to finish the application if I decide to send it.
