Hi all, I am unable to attend NYU orientation for the accelerated program due to my crazy schedule at work this summer. Any important information I missed? Did you get any info about where your clinicals will take place or any thing vital such as that? Thanks in advance for your feedback!!

I think that they only take the GRE -- I could be wrong. And yes, they don't review your application until it is complete. Good luck!!!!

Hi - I also applied to Pace and talked a lot with Susan Ford in Admissions - she is very reachable and sweet! I was accepted there at the beginning of last month. They are accepting folks on a rolling basis and I think the more contact you have with them the better chance of getting an early acceptance. Good luck!!

I can't agree with jschomburg enough. Water St is the way to go. It was my favorite dorm during my undergrad experience and is absolutely the place to be if you are older and want to avoid the loud and crazy scene. The bus to the main "campus" is very reliable. I highly suggest living in NYU housing for the first year if its your first time in the city. Get comfortable with the city and learning your way around and then look for housing elsewhere. I now live in Brooklyn and love it but certainly enjoyed my time at NYU. Plus, if you want a single (ie no roommates) it's not gonna happen $ wise unless you are in campus housing....;

Hi there - I have just been accepted to the 15 month accelerated program and picked NYU because of the midwifery masters program -- however I just saw this on the website: Announcement: New York University College of Nursing will no longer be accepting applications for admission into its Master's degree and Advanced Certificate programs in Midwifery as it will be suspending its Midwifery Program for new students beginning in the fall of 2008. The Midwifery Program will continue for current students until the last cohort of currently enrolled students has graduated. I would be so grateful if you could give me any insight about this. I am devastated right now! Thank you!

Hooray! I got my acceptance as well! Congrats to others!! I attended NYU as an undergrad B.A. student and am returning for an RN and then planning to move on to the midwifery (CNM) program. If anyone needs any help or advice with housing/financial aid/NYC etc please let me know - I'm happy to give you any of my thoughts/experience!

I only have experience as an undergrad with financial aid - but I got pretty good package. Also if you have an offer from Georgetown I suggest calling the financial aid office and telling them you have an offer there and you are trying to decide what school to go to - then ask if they can give you an estimate on your financial aid package. Sometimes if they want you bad enough, they will fight for you! That is what happened to me my freshman year. Lots of luck! As for apartments, if you are undergrad and this is your first time away I suggest dorms. If not, I highly suggest craigslist.org to find an apartment. If you are looking for a roommate the office campus housing website can be useful but I find the rents are often astronomicals. Manhattan rent is crazy, you can get better deals in Brooklyn with a very short subway commute. It all depends on what you prefer/can afford.
