NYU Spring 2008
You're welcome. I'm full time. It would take forever if you try to do it part time!!!!!!

NYU Spring 2008
Well AP is only one term at NYU. I'm starting my second term of acutal nursing courses tomorrow. AFAIK, they don't allow deferment.... but good luck.

NYU Spring 2008
NYU's AP is 3 credits. And yeah, u can potentially take all the prereqs at teh same time. I'm pretty sure you can take Nursing Research the same time as the prereqs.

NYU Spring 2008
I would say you have a pretty good chance of getting in - the avg last term was a 3.4 I think, you would prob be a definite if you were male.

For fundamentals, if you register early, you will get to choose which clinical site you want. It was a weird process, first we chose a section based on boro, then later they finally told us which section corresponded to which site and then you can adjust for example between presbyterian or nyu medical.

NYU Spring 2008
Hi, Wow, so you called and got everything in order with housing? I knew the 'set deadline' for the health clearance was crap... You missed orientation though from what I read... not that it isn't a waste of time... lol And you'll most likely get a Bronx clinical I think or Brooklyn. But at least you are in! You need to pick up your name tag after you register and purchase scrubs at the health studies bookstore which is NOT on campus. Keep that in mind. Let me know if you need any help in NYC

NYU Spring 2008
Truthfully, your chances are slim. You can't really up your gpa siginificantly enough and the gpa for this incoming term was I think around 3.4 and going higher every term. Definitely do not waste your money taking the prereqs at NYU, take them somewhere else if u must! Good luck.

NYU Spring 2008
I got some scholarship money and it helps but it's going to be expensive. It's worth it though. However, I still don't think the education and facilities is worth 36k/yr. People literally have to fight over clinicals. And sadly, since u didn't register for clinicals yet, u're prob gonna end up getting thrown into the Bronx or something. Good luck. =) ---------------- kaymin AIM SN: lilkaymin

NYU Spring 2008
It's a new nursing student seminar. Well it's 'due' dec 15th, but you can hand it in later i'm sure. Nothing to worry about.

NYU Spring 2008
GPA is relative though. My friend had Anyway, were you at the seminar today? It seemed like it would never end! And how is fundamentals? I'm starting the 15 month next term. I'm male and have no idea what size scrubs to buy. NYU doesn't really tell you anything. I still have no idea where the clinical sites are. Half the work benches in room 202 in the nursing building have defective stethoscopes or teh benches themselves don't work. I'm paying 36k for this? And the classes actually get full. Seriously, I was locked out of Nutrtion for like 3-4 days and when I went to complain they basically said tough luck but I got it anyway. 36k for this! Worse than a SUNY. Yeah, and I will never be happy with NYU, even if it isn't *that bad. Just like that lady who did the lecture said that all people complain about their jobs, I complian about NYU:) ---------------- kaymin AIM SN: lilkaymin

NYU Spring 2008
Well, if you're gpa is "high" then you'll get in, I think. If it's rather low, things are bleak. As for shots and BCLS. NYU has a bcls course taht you can take if you get in. Shots are due Dec 15th officially but I"m sure you can hand them in later. Don't panic. ---------------- kaymin AIM SN: lilkaymin

NYU Spring 2008
Hi, Honestly, I think all NYU really cares about is your gpa. At this point it isn't really competitive enough to look at your extracurriculars that much. As long as you surpass everyone else with your gpa, you'll get in. Even during the seminars I had at NYU, they keep bragging about how their GPA and test scores are going up, etc. NYU is really corporate... As for prereqs or not, I think they would prefer you not to have them, so you would have to take them at NYU and pay them another semester's tuition. It's about luck too, because they can have an opening for prereq classes OR they could have one for 15 month starting. And I guess I will see you in class next term, suzie hull? :) ---------------- kaymin AIM SN: lilkaymin

There is a class at NYU in early January. It's from 9AM to 3PM or so but they will let you out at about 1. You don't really learn anything and there's no test. I took it there. So don't fret. :)

Spring 2008 NYU Applicant No Pre-reqs
Hi. Congrats. I'm actually finishing up the prereqs right now and starting clinicals in the spring. What prereqs are you taking? Maybe you can buy some of my books.:) ---------------- kaymin AIM SN: lilkaymin

Well those community college nurses only receive ASN. NYU is really biased against ASN. You get paid more with a BSN and u can advance to a further degree at NYU like masters. So a BSN is definitely worth it if u want to go up the nursing ladder. If u think about it, u can easily make up the debt you receive within a year or two, so it's definitely worth it. In fact, one of hte new students is all ready a RN and is attending NYU just to get a BSN. I'm guessing she wants to be a NP. Do nursing if u want to be in the field and don't let the tuition scare you. I'll be around 70k in debt. But it's worth it to me.
