NYU Accelerated Nursing Program 2008

Published

Hey!

I thought I should start a thread for people who applied to the NYU 15 Month Accelerated Nursing Program for Fall 2008.

Lets all be friends while we wait for April 1st to come around!

Does anybody have any info the selection process? Obviously it's competitive, but are they looking at anything in particular? (GPA, Pre-reqs, Extra-curriculars, etc.)

Share your stories and input.

hi,

SO good NEWS they are starting to review our applications FINALLY! The admissions office just called me and said they reviewed my file and they were just wondering if I took anatomy and phys and she said my letter is going out this week! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I'm crossing my fingers!! I'm assuming everyone should hear really soon because I applied literally the last day in feb.

OMG!! I just heard too!! Actually I heard around 6:30pm this evening! A lady called me from NYU admissions asking if I planned on taking Nutrition & Development-Psych. this summer and I said that I did and she said GREAT you will be hearing from us in the next week or so!! I'm hoping this means I have a shot! Does anyone know if they usually spend their evenings calling people whom are likely candiates?!!? Either way EVERYONE should be hearing something soon!! :nurse:

...that's good news that they are on it, reviewing our applications as quick as they can :yeah: ..i really hope to receive the decision letter by next week as you guys said.

...it's good to know that they are contacting applicants who has yet to complete the prerequisites, reminding them to take care of the matter. it just means that they are really on it :nuke:

Hi Future NYU Accelerated BSN students -

Out of curiosity...

1) How many students apply for the Accelerated BSN program?

2) How competitive is it to get into NYU Nursing?

:typing

Hi...I saw on the website that they only accept about 27% of their applicants

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for all the information! I haven't heard anything yet, and no phone call....:uhoh21: But, either way, I'm hopeful to hear soon, it will make my decision that much easier.

I too applied in February. I think I processed my application in the second or third week of February...it was super close to the March 1st deadline.

Regarding Pre-reqs, I had all As, except for a B in Stats. I have yet to take Chemistry, which I'm currently enrolled in for the summer. Undergrad G.P.A is a 3.7 right now...in Health Communication/Gender Studies.

I'm actually still an undergrad too...graduating in a few weeks! Thank goodness!

I applied to NYU, SHU, UMDNJ, Villanova...and depending upon my acceptances/rejections, I may apply to several schools elsewhere for a Jan. start date.

It'd be nice to get accepted into NYU, but the admission process may be flukey...either way, I'm keeping my head up and heart open!

Good luck to all applicants! I wish you the very best!

I'll keep everyone posted if I hear anything.

Specializes in neuro, peds.

I too am still waiting to hear but I didn't apply till March 3rd, 2 days after the priority deadline. Anyone know how much this will affect/hurt my chances?

Other than the late submission, I think my chances overall were very good but I suspect that the majority of applicants are very good prospects. Man, really wish I would have gotten my application in on time.

On top of that, I have been accepted to Loyola's nursing program in Chicago but it starts May 19. So I may not have the luxury of waiting to hear back from NYU, which is my first choice.

where are all you guys that are applying from? I am from CA and I am a little scared of moving across the country but will if I get in! Just curious to see where everyone else is coming from

Hi All...

Good luck as the waiting continues! I'm from NJ, a small farm town, so commuting into the city would not be an option...I'd have to find housing.

But, for those coming from out of the metropolitan area, good luck to you! I wish you the best and a crack at NYC which is fabulous for innumerable reasons.:nuke:

I grew up in the area, so it's not as big of a deal, I contemplated applying to schools on the west coast, just for a change....but ended up processing applications locally.

Here's to waiting, and good news for all! For those from out of state/east coast area, PM if you have any questions, I've worked in the city and some of the fam lives there! NYC is easy to navigate and less intimidating after awhile than other big cities..:nuke:

I'm from PA about an hour and 15 min train ride to the city...right now I'm a senior in college in upstate NY. So I would def be moving to the city if I get in.

gl to everyone!

I am an NYU alum to NYU again for the 15 month program. This is sooooo frustrating - I feel like I have been waiting forever to hear from them and they keep pushing back the notification deadline.

I'm very jealous of the folks that have received calls - congrats!!

Any advice on someone in the admissions dept to contact regarding my application?

Thank you!!

Aaah, the waiting is killing me!!! And since I'm all the way over in Cali, I am going to be waiting that much longer than you east-coasters. So whenever anyone hears anything, let us know!

Good Luck to all!!!!!!!
