NYU Accelerated Nursing Program 2008

Published

Hey!

I thought I should start a thread for people who applied to the NYU 15 Month Accelerated Nursing Program for Fall 2008.

Lets all be friends while we wait for April 1st to come around!

Does anybody have any info the selection process? Obviously it's competitive, but are they looking at anything in particular? (GPA, Pre-reqs, Extra-curriculars, etc.)

Share your stories and input.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH MY GOOOOOODDD-NESS!!:yelclap:

Yes I got it!!! I got the letter!

SOOOOOO AWESOME!!:yeah:

If it helps to know the post mark date on the envelope says APRIL 15th! I hope everyone gets theirs just as fast!! WHOOOOO!!

Heres to past & future BLOOD, SWEAT, & TEARS!!!

Congrats to you! So it took about 2 days to get to you...where do you live?

Congrats to you!:yeah: That's so exciting! Glad to hear someone has heard good news! I hope I find out one way or another soon!

I got in YESTERDAY!!!! yayyyyy !!! Good luck to everyone!!!!

Congrats! Thats fabulous. So I called the office of admissions to check the status of my application. The guy there said that my application is currently under review with the committee. Kinda frustrating. So I said, so are any letters being sent out? He said, "no not at all....we have sent out a select few, but the majority, no. You should know within the next week-two weeks."

Argh!!!! Just tell me already! Anyways, congrats to the "select few" who have already found out! Hopefully I will be joining you....I am crossing my fingers!!!!!!

Has anyone else heard????

I called yesterday to check my status and they said that letters will be mailed out late april (which it already is) through JUNE!!! That is crazy I really hope I don't have to wait that long!

The two of you who were accepted already...what were your stats (undergrad gpa, all pre reqs complete or not, undergrad major, experience, etc.)?????

Yea, I called in too. I was told to "sit tight" until next week.

It is really an inconvenience to receive decision letters so late. I'm trying to plan out what I am going to do after I graduate from undergrad in May but I can't do it with the delays.

Congrats to everyone who already got accepted!

And echoing what the post said before me: What were the GPAs, experience, etc of the accepted students (ILOVENY08, Steffi-girl)?

Just trying to gauge my chances of getting in so I can plan out my life. =/

Hi,

I am currently a senior Biology major...I would say being involved probably helped me a lot...I am the president of both pre-medical society and the Biology club. I am also a member of the biology honors society. I volunteered in the ER assisting nurses all this year. I volunteered with children and also in a retirement home. My GPA wasn't that great it's a 3.4 but my junior and senior year I got 3.8 both years..so my freshman year and soph year is what brought me down. Hope that helps!

good luck!

Hey everyone!

I got in!! I was all excited until I realized that now I have to decide where I want to go. Anyone here know a lot about the program or how it ranks among others?

For those that asked, I believe my GPA was like a 3.6 in undergrad, but I have all A's and one B in the prerequisite classes. I'm working as a medical assistant in a doctor's office and I've volunteered at a hospital. My degree was in biology. Oh, and I got my packet in the mail on Friday and I'm in California.

congrats Kelzy, where are you deciding between other than nyu?

Hi Kelzy - I am an NYU alum (I graduated from the College of Arts & Sciences in 2006). I loved every second of it and felt like NYU and NYC offered me so much in terms of internships, jobs, networking, educational opportunities, etc. I tell everyone to go to NYU!

Now let's hope they take me back for the 15 month program!!!!!!

Good luck with your decision! Please let me know if you have any specific questions about NYU.

Thanks Duke112.. I am deciding between Georgetown and NYU. They're both good schools, I just need to pick the one I want to go to more and/or which is the better program. It's tough!

And Moira.. how easy/difficult is it to get financial aid? Also, what's the best way to apartment hunt? I'm from California so I can't exactly go looking. Do most people do the office campus housing website? thanks :)
