Hey!
I thought I should start a thread for people who applied to the NYU 15 Month Accelerated Nursing Program for Fall 2008.
Lets all be friends while we wait for April 1st to come around!
Does anybody have any info the selection process? Obviously it's competitive, but are they looking at anything in particular? (GPA, Pre-reqs, Extra-curriculars, etc.)

Hello everyone,
I don't know how I stumbled across this message board but now that I did, everyones situation is bringing back dreadful memories.
I was in the same boat as most of you. I applied to nursing at my (then) present university, IPFW in Fort Wayne, IN (which rejected me the previous semester), and two extremes, The University of Sydney (Australia) and NYU.
I received my acceptance letter for Sydney in December, excited, and no response from NYU (which I just applied for the heck of it, my meager 3.2 gpa isn't close to some others), I quickly accepted. Of course after I make all of the deposits and line up everything I got the wonderful NYU acceptance packet on December 21 (orientation on Jan 12).
I decided on NYU and enrolled in this semester (Spring 08). I had to finish up my pre-reqs which is unfortunate. But I am going to start all nursing clinics in Fall 08.
After reading most of the post it seems that everyone has a lot of questions. Feel free to ask me (tuition, housing, campus, etc.).
I applied to be an orientation leader for all new/transfer nursing students for the Fall 08 semester so hopefully I will be able to meet some of you there.
***Also, I'm not sure how much I will check this, but if you happen to be on facebook (which unfortunately, I'm always on) add me (Joe Schomburg) and I'll answer all of the questions to help you make your decision, or to sooth your nerves of moving to NYC.***
Best of luck
Joe S
Hi Everyone,
I just came home this evening from class and found a letter in my mailbox. The acceptance letter was dated Friday, May 25, and was postmarked from Long Island City, New York. I phoned one week ago and they said letters would be sent out the following week...so for those still waiting, this should give you some timeframe.
I'm so excited! I've been waiting for this for such a long time! I plan to visit with someone from admissions next week if I'm able to schedule something. I want to get as many details as possible and seek help from whomever.
Thank you to everyone for your advice, help, support, etc. :heartbeatYou've made the waiting period less agonizing....
I'll say big prayers for those still waiting....
I can't wait to make friends with everyone else! Here's to one big adventure....
Thank you everyone! I wish you the best of luck as well, my fingers are crossed for all of you! I know what it's like to wait....
The letter came in a big envelope. It contained a purple NYU folder and the acceptance letter, with a transcript evaluation and a brocheure.
Duke! I hope you hear within the next week...it's such a shame that they delayed the process for you....I hope you hear soon!
As for finanicial aid, I have not heard anything...I'm going to mill through some paperwork today and hopefully make some phonecalls.
I'm already trying to rationalize the expense in my head...we can do it though! I have faith! Loans, grants, whatever it takes...
Keep me posted everyone! I'm praying for you!
and this may be of use to you, but i copied my bill from this semester, there is an extra $900 dollars on there since i took 19 credit hours (1 hour extra). and housing differs from cheaper to more expensive.

Thanks so much for the advice you guys. I really appreciate it. I think I have an idea about what I'm going to do. I think I'm going to defer and take a year off and see where else I can get in. It would be nice to take a year off from school anyways if I dont get into NYU. Get some more experence under my belt! And it wouldn't be that I'm saying "no" to pace, just "maybe later." Hope everyone is well!
Let us know the minute anyone else finds out! I will do the same!
