Hey!
I thought I should start a thread for people who applied to the NYU 15 Month Accelerated Nursing Program for Fall 2008.
Lets all be friends while we wait for April 1st to come around!
Does anybody have any info the selection process? Obviously it's competitive, but are they looking at anything in particular? (GPA, Pre-reqs, Extra-curriculars, etc.)
Share your stories and input.
15 month program students live in all of the housing options (except for the freshman only buildings). I personally live in the water street building which i think is the nicest (besides the newest Gramercy) but it is far away from campus but they have a NYU bus that takes you there in 20 min.
The building is just like condos, there aren't any crazy parties and it's very quiet.
Feel free to ask any question, i'll try to answer them for you
"
NYU's College of Nursing has doubled enrollment since 2001, to 1,180 students. Terry Fulmer, dean of the college, said the school doubled the size of its facility since 2002, and doubled its full-time faculty to 52.
"We're turning away students because the demand is tremendous," said Fulmer, whose school accepted only 200 students out of 908 applicants for the fall semester. To meet demand, she said the college is getting ready to build a new facility that's twice the size of the current one."

Hooray! I got my acceptance as well! Congrats to others!!
I attended NYU as an undergrad B.A. student and am returning for an RN and then planning to move on to the midwifery (CNM) program. If anyone needs any help or advice with housing/financial aid/NYC etc please let me know - I'm happy to give you any of my thoughts/experience!
if you're from out of state and you're going to school in NYC, live it up and live in manhattan, close to the school. you'll most likely accrue debt from the tuition, so what's a few more thousands of dollars? at least you'll have the stories and the fond experiences of being a new yorker... even if you're only here for 15 months.
