Hi guys! Thought I'd make a forum for NYU's ABSN Program for fall 2020.
Let me introduce myself. My name is Alexis Paige. Currently in California. I received my BA in psych from a private university with a GPA below 3.0. Took pre-reqs in multiple community college while working. Ended up with the same GPA as undergrad ?
Here's my stats:
Anatomy: C (planning to retake in spring 2020)
Physio: A-
Microbio: C+ (planning to retake in spring 2020)
Chem for health sciences: C+
Nutrition: A
Stats: C
Lifespan dev: B
Volunteer experience at Stanford University. Do you think I have chance with NYU? I feel like my only hope in getting in are the letter of recs + personal essay.
Feel free to comment whatever is on your mind. What are your stats? Where are you from and what other schools will you be applying at? Help a sistah out!
Thought it might be a good idea to follow up on my application to check for new transcripts or other required documents. FIRST TIME I've REACHED OUT. Was given such a cold and rude answer of how I need to be patient and how they receive applications from ALLLLL over the world so I shouldn’t contact them. I would try to explain the reason why I’m calling (it they need any other info for my app) and was RUDELY cut off about how I need to wait. Very disappointed in the institution that I always had high expectation for. It almost makes me regret giving almost all my attention toward a program that can’t even take one minute to give a polite answer to an applicant that has been waiting since the beginning of March. Oh by the way they don’t give out timelines of application reviews. So if you received a date, it’s not accurate. I wouldn’t suggest calling about it and if u do, I hope you don’t get the same person who answered my call.

Hey just wanted to let you know something similar happened to me with LIU. I contacted general admissions and they told me to contact someone specifically from the ABSN admissions team. I emailed that person on the ABSN admissions team and they called almost immediately. As I was asking my questions this person interrupted and said "yeah I don't have time for this, I have other things to do". On the other hand, all of the other schools treated me like a paying applicant. Point is, there is always that one jerk in the bunch. Do not get discrouraged or upset.
Try reaching out to them via email as well at [email protected] .
Sigtime, hey! Do you mind telling me who you contacted at LIU to actually get a response? I was accepted for Fall “conditionally” and I have reached out to them for four weeks now and spoke to multiple people and nobody is giving me answers about what is needed from me still as far as beginning in Fall, and what they are willing to accept. I told my boyfriend the other day I want to speak to a supervisor of admissions if possible. What was your exact experience and can you help me out in bro able to contact someone who knows what they’re talking about ?

Yeah I’ve had the same experience every time I’ve called. The lady who answers is extremely rude and just seems annoyed.

DO NOT call the nursing program directly! I know someone who use to work there and quit because the staff was so rude . I called once last yr and my blood was boiling after a not so pleasant call with a Mary or Marie( older women). However the admissions ppl at the general office of NYU are all present . The actual nursing school office will not give you a update. I was currently a student a NYU at the time and had my professor call her personally after to get the answers I needed.

If you called everyone there, and no one gave you a straight answer then I dont think the person I spoke to is going to be of any help. He was clearly in a hurry and could'nt be bothered.

I"m really trying here but is a bit discouraging. With everything that is going on, I don't want to procrastinate. Who knows what happens next and then we can't start the academic year or do it all from home or another wave of the virus comes and we can't do anything once again. I just want to get the ball rolling either way and I feel they are just keeping us all in pause for the longest.
