NYU Accelerated Nursing Fall 2020

Published

Hi guys! Thought I'd make a forum for NYU's ABSN Program for fall 2020.

Let me introduce myself. My name is Alexis Paige. Currently in California. I received my BA in psych from a private university with a GPA below 3.0. Took pre-reqs in multiple community college while working. Ended up with the same GPA as undergrad ?

Here's my stats:

Anatomy: C (planning to retake in spring 2020)

Physio: A-

Microbio: C+ (planning to retake in spring 2020)

Chem for health sciences: C+

Nutrition: A

Stats: C

Lifespan dev: B

Volunteer experience at Stanford University. Do you think I have chance with NYU? I feel like my only hope in getting in are the letter of recs + personal essay.

Feel free to comment whatever is on your mind. What are your stats? Where are you from and what other schools will you be applying at? Help a sistah out!

Does anyone know the chance of being accepted on waitlist

I got waitlisted!

For those who got into NYU, what exactly is the tuition cost for the whole year?

I never accepted/denied my acceptance, and I have concerns about the program I did say yes too, so I called financial aid today to understand the breakdown.

In regards to purely tuition and fees, the program costs around 26k-30k a semester. So for both fall 2020-Spring 2021 , you'd pay nearly 56k, purely looking at tuition and not counting any financial aid (scholarships and loans)

My five cents but: It sounds like everyone does get something, but I imagine that the more time that passes by, the less there is in the pot.

In regards to Summer and fall 2021, both of those would be calculated separately but they expect 1-3 percent increases. again, give or take 26k-30k. I wish I could be more precise but I cant! because fall 2021 and Summer 2021 costs haven't been set, so you have to do an estimation.

None of this includes room and board, books and supplies, transportation and what they delegate as " other education costs" which adds about 12.5k per semester.

so if you include living and miscellaneous costs with tuition, your KNOWN cost is 38,500 for each semester (fall and Spring) and about 40,500 potentially for Summer and fall since costs DO rise.

Hope this is helpful!

Yes, thanks for the break down!

Did anyone indicate another school they were interested in on the waitlist form?

Woohoo!!

Now, question, did rejections also go out or did everyone who didn’t get an acceptance get waitlisted? I only see a few people got rejections. From what I’ve read on the admissions FAQ page, there is no order for how the waitlist moves. As a spot opens they reevaluate applications and go like that.

I got a rejection letter this morning. Good luck to all on the waitlist.

That’s so strange! But anyways I’m sorry to hear, and I hope you end up with a better opportunity!

I started my nursing program at Wayne State in Michigan last month but wanted to know NYU's decision. I am so happy and proud that they accepted me. If their program started earlier in the year and they came out with decisions earlier in the year it would have been a tough choice. I will be turning my admission down and give someone else this great opportunity.

Do we have to let NYU know of the courses we are taking right now? I'm currently taking one prerequisite online at my local community college.
