NYU Accelerated Nursing Fall 2020

Published

Hi guys! Thought I'd make a forum for NYU's ABSN Program for fall 2020.

Let me introduce myself. My name is Alexis Paige. Currently in California. I received my BA in psych from a private university with a GPA below 3.0. Took pre-reqs in multiple community college while working. Ended up with the same GPA as undergrad ?

Here's my stats:

Anatomy: C (planning to retake in spring 2020)

Physio: A-

Microbio: C+ (planning to retake in spring 2020)

Chem for health sciences: C+

Nutrition: A

Stats: C

Lifespan dev: B

Volunteer experience at Stanford University. Do you think I have chance with NYU? I feel like my only hope in getting in are the letter of recs + personal essay.

Feel free to comment whatever is on your mind. What are your stats? Where are you from and what other schools will you be applying at? Help a sistah out!

Can you still get it in before today's over?

I can get everything else in besides an academic LOR.

Again, the application always been the first. March and April 1st. It was never the 7th. I think you misread it.

Mmm guess so.

I'm going to have to go with you on this one. I always recalled it being April 1st. I thought maybe I was wrong, though.

Any updates on anyone's application today 4/1/2020?

I must have mixed it up with another application then I guess;(. I wasn’t planning to apply to NYU. I had lost some opportunities to apply to some programs because TEAS were shut down in many places so I had no choice. This morning I got up and thought to myself I might as well apply to NYU as well just to take keep my options open

Don't get too bent out of shape! A lot of schools accept students in both the Spring and the fall. If you missed this round you can always apply for Spring 2021.

if you get into rochester are you gonna pick it?

I'm not sure honestly, they both seem like they're on the same playing field for nursing. do you have any opinions about either of the schools?

LOL it sucks hearing that, but I will still apply for Spring anyway!;(

its a toss up. I would def choose rochester over nyu solely because of the price. also I messaged people randomly on insta who went there and THEY RAVED about it. said the teachers are good.

with nyu...I hear its mainly a sim lab? but administration/support/ faculty is good. basically they hold their students hands throughout the process which I like lmao. and their job placement is really good most people who go there get a job relatively quick. I'm in the nyc/LI area so I would love to go to nyu but loans are just not my thing. still paying of a little bit from undergrad.

NY nursing schools are the hardest and most compettive to get into tbh

thats how I feel too and with Rochester the cost of living is much cheaper. I would have to take out loans with Rochester anyways, but its still like a $30,000 difference. I'm from Long Island too and I'm not sure how I feel about going so far away because I eventually want to live back down here, but I also dont picture myself living in the city lmao

I thought all nursing schools are simulation labs for awhile, no?? do you think job placement would differ NYU vs Rochester? and also did you apply to Rochester as well or just NYU?

I would do that then!! Get your app in!! LOR isn't required, pretty sure! Doesn't hurt to give it a shot if you've got everything else in.

I just checked. It says 1 academic required;(.

Really? I just pulled up the website and found this: "One to two professional or academic letters of recommendation are recommended but not required. "

LOL is it just me or am I reading everything off today?! I'm doing the application through common app. Maybe I'm just not understanding clearly today.
