Hey all! I've learned tons over the past months reading the different threads here. I am getting ready to start my application for the NYU aBSN program for Spring 2011, so I thought I'd start a new thread for anyone else who may be applying. I will be graduating from the University of Florida in December with a degree in nutrition. I've always wanted to go to NYU, so getting into this program would be a dream come true.
I will be attending the open house on August 10th to get some more information, so I will definitely check back and post what I find out.
So is there anyone else out there that's in the same boat as me? I'd love to hear from yall!!
kika,
My gpa is around 3.1 but I did pretty well on my prereqs and I have taken tons of other science classes beyond the required ones, as I am a nutrition major. Got a rec letter from my Physiology professor. I am a licensed CNA as well. This is my last semester.. I graduate on December 18th!!
I am hoping for the best, but the wait is really difficult. I was told they hope to send out letters "in the next few weeks," which was really discouraging because I was hoping for early November notification since I submitted my application early. I guess the only thing I can do is stay positive, and keep busy with school and work until I hear something.
Also, you crack me up thinking they played a trick on you. Don't worry you're already in!! Hopefully I'll be one of your classmates come January!!

I graduated in may with a psych degree. My overall GPA was 3.5 .. my pre-req's are around a 3.8....but I have no experience at all. I got recommendation letters from from anatomy teacher and from one of my psych professors. I began aplying to NYU in septemeber however, my app wasn't complete till about a week before the nov. 1st deadline because some transcripts got lost....Hope that helps...
Hoooraaayyy!!!
I got my acceptance email today with instruction on how to accept the offer and register for classes. Plus meeting with
an advisor soon to look over my credits and decide on the new classes to take....so exciting!
I guess I will not receive a welcome packet in the mail since I'm already an NYU student!
Good luck everyone and gatorrach keep me posted!!

Hello, everyone! I just got my acceptance packet yesterday in the mail. I sent my application out on October 1st and I received my packet in California through snail mail. Congrats to everyone who got accepted! For those who did get admitted have you looked into housing yet? Im moving from California and I don't even know where to start!
I was accepted today too:) Coming from California also, San Francisco.
I have to admit, I am a little discouraged by everyone talking about how unorganized the program is, and about how the large class sizes don't prepare you for the N-CLEX. I'm wondering if people who are current students agree? normally I wouldn't pay such close attention to this stuff, but the tuition is pretty high whch raises the stakes a little bit.
Anne & B-Rizz,
Congrats!! I just moved back to NYC from San Francisco last May, so I know what your going through!! Let me know if I can offer any advice.
Rach, hopefully we will find out soon! I live in Brooklyn so it shouldn't take the mail very long to get to me once they send it out. I'm trying to be patient!

B-Rizz,
I don't know anything about student housing but I would check out what NYU has to offer. I live in Brooklyn and have never lived in Manhattan just because I prefer to live in a more low key area. Before I moved to San Francisco (3 years ago), I lived in Williamsburg. Williamsburg is really convenient because it is off the L train. The L train is great for getting into the city quickly, and easily and it is also a very reliable train. When I moved back to Brooklyn, I couldn't find an apartment in our price range in that area. I also didn't really want to live there because it is very much a party scene, and needed a neighborhood that wasn't so distracting. December and January should be great months to get an apartment because not a ton of people are moving at that time. When we moved in September, it was a terrible time to find an apartment as many students were coming back into the city, and affordable housing was hard to come by.
We live in Prospect Heights and although it takes a bit longer to get into the city, we love it. It's right next to Prospect Park and has a really mellow vibe. I would also recommend Carroll Gardens, but it can be pricey. Ft. Greene is amazing if you are near the ACE and Clinton Hill is nice as well, but the only train over there is the G train which has a bad reputation. I would still check out Williamsburg just because it's so convenient. Park Slope is a breath taking neighborhood but is also very expensive. Check craigslist and look around, I'm sure you will find what your looking for.
Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm hoping I hear from NYU very soon. The waiting is starting to make me go crazy and have weird dreams!

Hey All,
Just want to say congrats to those who got in and those who havent heard anything, hang in there!
I received my acceptance on 11/8 and recently joined this forum. I'm coming from San Francisco, CA. And the large move across the country is seriously daunting. I dont even know where to start and everything is happening super fast.
I have a friend of a friend that is currently a nursing student at NYU accelerated program. I'm trying to get in contact with her so once i do ill let you know what she says about the program.

Ok guys....I found out last week over the phone that I got in, but haven't received anything in the mail yet!!
Maybe they played a joke on me!!!
Anyway...it seems from what I read on this board that the first people to be notified are the Accelerated students, then they will move on to the traditional BSN students.
Gatorrach don't worry you will receive your acceptance letter very soon! Did you graduate already and what is your GPA?
Good luck everyone!
