Hey all! I've learned tons over the past months reading the different threads here. I am getting ready to start my application for the NYU aBSN program for Spring 2011, so I thought I'd start a new thread for anyone else who may be applying. I will be graduating from the University of Florida in December with a degree in nutrition. I've always wanted to go to NYU, so getting into this program would be a dream come true.

I will be attending the open house on August 10th to get some more information, so I will definitely check back and post what I find out.

So is there anyone else out there that's in the same boat as me? I'd love to hear from yall!!

I will probably end up applying to NYU even though i'm a bit weary about the tuition. I just graduated in May with a nutrition degree from Montclair State University (NJ). I'm taking A&P1 (got an A), A&P2, microbio, and a religions of the worlds class all this summer. Are you applying to other schools?

I am also applying to NYU for the Spring and will be going to the info session in the spring. I want to also apply to Pace but they require i take the GRE. I am currently working on the application now and doing my essay .

Hey I am also planning on applying to the Accelerated program at NYU for spring 2011! and I will also be attending the Open house tonight!! =] I have a BA in Health Administration and I'm missing some pre-reqs, which I'll be taking this fall. All I know is that NYU is a very good program, however it is very expensive. I am debating on weather applying to SUNY Downstate because is cheap, but then risking the chance that I might not even get in! uugh I'm so confused! lol hopefully I'll make up my mind tonight! c u there! -Reyni

hey all,

I also plan on applying to NYU for spring 2011 admission. How did the open house go? Do you guys know how competitive NYU is and/or what their average acceptance GPA is? Thanks!

The open house was very informative there were actually quite a few people there. The basic rundown is that there is no gpa but they do look very strongly at the gpa for your prereqs.. they say the they accept a C but it is much better to ensure u are getting A and B's in them .. They also said that for the fall they received 1000 applicants all together and accepted about 480 which isn't too bad. Also they have numerous scholarships available. I already completed my application just have to send my transcripts and recommendations. All should be in by Oct 1 and decisions are usually sent out around November sometime ..GOOD LUCK

Don't go to Downstate because it is cheap. It is very difficult to get in because it is so cheap. The students are generally very motivated and willing to learn, but the administration is so disorganized and the professors are not very knowledgeable. It is a quick program and the administration and faculty do not provide much support.

Hey all!

The open house was good, it was helpful to hear specifically what sections they wanted accelerated applicants to fill out on the common app. I am nearly finished with my application, and will be sending transcripts and requesting letters of recommendation from my professors soon. I hope to have the online part turned in by the end of this week so that I'll only be waiting on my rec letters to get mailed.

The 3 short essays on the supplemental application were really challenging! The problem wasn't the topics, but rather, the small amount of space provided. Fully answering the questions in only 500 characters (that's about 85-90 words) was not easy...

I am going to be on edge until they mail decisions in November, I can already tell lol.

How is everyone else doing on their applications?

Go Gators,

Rachel

Hey I was wondering if you submitted the college counselor form from the "school forms" section.. I know we are required to submit professor recommendations but is the counselor form required too? Thanks and goo job getting your app in so early! :)

Hey everyone! how are applicationgs going? I am starting this week.

Hey .. I did not submit the college counselor form. They said there was a lot on that application was not needed and to just leave it blank . I did just send in my recommendations from my former supervisors . I am going to be on pins and needles until I hear something...

Hey Ladies,

Does anyone know the exact cost of the program? I know the regular tuition rate is $19,000 per term, so I'm guessing $50,000-ish? I would love to attend NYU (submitted my app. just before the Oct. 1 deadline), but I have no idea whether or not it's worth the money...

Thoughts?
