Hi everyone!
I was just wondering if anyone was applying to NYU for the ABSN program in fall 2017? I'm kind of nervous because my GPA isn't the highest since I had to work all four years to help pay for school which took away from my studying time. I do have work experience in the health care field and a little over 100 hours of health related volunteering. Also, how is everyone planning on paying for school since it is soo expensive?
I got a different email because I don't have nutrition I'm considered a pre nursing student. The email they sent me said may 15th but then above it it also said students for fall 2017 will find out on the 15th that's why I'm confused.
Oh gotcha... I'd give them a call then and see if they can clarify because May 15 does seem early for the health forms, especially since it seems they're still in the process of making admission decisions.
edit: or maybe they're just referring to the NYU Student Health Center form being due by May 15 if you were to start taking nutrition there in the summer?
Hi @veronicamarsh
First off congrats! I am legit in the same situation! I have been accepted to both NYU and Regis. I have spoken with students from both schools and the consensus I get with NYU is that even though the class size is large it doesn't feel like it. A lot of the lectures are in podcast form and the professors are approachable but they will not "hold your hand". I am graduating from Providence College so I feel you on the small learning environment but many of the students said that the clinicals and simulation labs are small. I also keep telling myself if I am determined to become a nurse I won't let the environment deter me. They are both great programs but at the same time NYU has one of the top nursing programs in the nation. I am personally leaning towards NYU and I'm looking at the financial aspect of it as a great investment. You have to do what works for you but NYU is a fantastic opportunity!

When you say a lot of the classes are in podcast form, do you mean they are not held in person but rather online? I had heard that all the classes were recorded and made available as podcasts for students to use/if they had to miss class, but do you guys know if any of the classes are only online and if so, how many? Personally, paying that much for the program I do not want a lot of online classes if any at all.

Yes you are right. I got mixed up on the podcast. The podcast are a learning aid. But the the students I talked said that their are online components in the program but not full online classes. Lectures are in person. The Sim labs were excellent and the technology state of the art (A complaint some of the Regis students had). They also said that they never had a problem with getting in touch with professors to further clarify any issues. Again, definitely a decision that should reflect what works best for you!
FutNurseBB17,
Thanks so much for the advice! That's crazy that we are both deciding between Regis v. NYU. Most of my friends are going to be in MA, so that's why the decision is so tough. NYU is also much more expensive and apartments would be as well. I would love to talk more about this if you would be willing to as well!
Anyone else that got accepted still waiting on financial aid? I called fin aid last week and they said they had everything and I would hear back by this week.I'm getting a little worried since I went to a private school for undergrad and I already have loans from that..
Me! I got an email from Federal Student Aid saying that my FAFSA had been processed and sent on to schools this past Monday, but I still haven't gotten my fin aid package. I don't know how long it usually takes.
Hey guys, Congrats to all that got accepted to the program! Does anyone one know when the $500 deposit is due? I heard it was May 1st but i'm not sure.
Did you accept your admission offer? I think it's due as soon as you accept your offer but I could be wrong. When I accepted it took me right to the page to enter my CC info.

I accepted on the 17th and was able to set up my NYU email on the 20th so you should be getting some info on it soon!
