Hi everyone!
I was just wondering if anyone was applying to NYU for the ABSN program in fall 2017? I'm kind of nervous because my GPA isn't the highest since I had to work all four years to help pay for school which took away from my studying time. I do have work experience in the health care field and a little over 100 hours of health related volunteering. Also, how is everyone planning on paying for school since it is soo expensive?
Congrats 2017721N! I was a psych major too :)
I do have a question about being a student worker for NYU. Were you a part of the work study program? I got offered that option in my financial aid package and I was just wondering if you were, what your experience was like, if you were able to work a job related to your coursework, and how flexible they are with scheduling/hours etc. I would love the opportunity to make some extra money and be working close to school but I'm not sure how many hours I'd be able to put in and still keep up with the program and I also have another work commitment that takes up one weekend every month right now.
Thanks!
ILim, jaynettie and Alexixv94,
The waiting is the worst but try to stay positive. I also applied priority (actually submitted in November) and just received my acceptance today. There are many reasons why things get held up; don't lose hope.
If you haven't yet, I would suggest calling the admissions department and confirming that they have everything and your application is complete - just in case.
Fingers crossed for everyone still waiting!
I just got accepted yesterday! I'm so happy! I am choosing between NYU and Regis in Weston, Ma... Does anyone have any insight as to what is a better/more prestigious program? I'm very conflicted. I love NYC, but Regis's cohort only has 48 students and I currently go to Holy Cross so I'm used to a very small academic environment. I know NYU's lectures will be 100+ students. NYU will also be more expensive when factoring in housing. There are a lot of pros and cons I have to think about.. Does anyone have any tips or advice?
For those of you who only have nutrition left to take:
I am a bit confused, wondering if anyone could clarify. I got an email about registration telling me I have to register for nutrition in the fall. I received another email saying I have the option to take it over the summer at NYU but I would have to wait until may 15th to do so because i am considered non-matriculated and my e-mail is not active until that day.
The thing is, i have access to my school email and have received some emails so doesn't that mean its activated? Why would i have to wait until may 15th? When are health forms due? Ive seen multiple different dates (including the 15th) Has anyone registered yet and know the process?
I don't think the health clearance forms are due until August. This is from an email sent out on Monday:
Welcome to NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing Fall 2017 Clinical Courses: Please be aware that the health clearance requirements for NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing are not the same as the requirements for the New York University Student Health Center. All NYU College of Nursing health clearance documents (attached) must be submitted to the NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing Office of Clinical Affairs no later than August 14, 2017. Please schedule your appointment with your healthcare provider now. This can also be completed at the NYU Student Health Center.
For those that have accepted their admission.....how long after your status decision was posted and you accepted the admission did you receive information regarding your NYU email address? I just accepted my admission yesterday but have not yet received my email address. Wondering if this is a normal wait time or if I should contact someone.
Thanks!

Hey everyone!
Wanted to post/follow up since we're all waiting.
I checked NYU Albert around 11:20am and got my acceptance.
When I click my application status, on the right there is a purple button called "Admission Decision."
Once I click on that, I have access to my decision letter as well as accept/decline.
I submitted my application on February 23 and received my application today, April 25 @ 11:20am.
My financial aid package has come out too. A small scholarship with loans (not surprised)
Congratulations to those accepted! I have been stressing since the day I submitted my application haha.
Best of luck to everyone else.
Here are my stats:
GPA: 3.779
Undergraduate Psychology major, graduating this May 2017.
Prerequisites:
Nutrition: A
Chemistry: A
Microbiology: Will take in the summer 2017
A&P: In progress, currently A status
Statistics: A
Developmental Psych: Did not take
**I also wanna point out that I am currently an NYU student here and maybe that might have given me a slight boost.
I did not have to take developmental psych because my undergraduate coursework as a current psychology student exempts me from taking the course. (I have emailed the director personally and received approval to be exempt!)
For A&P-->I am currently taking A&P within NYU's nursing school and only need one semester of it. (Im not sure how it works for other schools cause other schools need two semesters? but NYU's A&P combines it into one term I believe, but I am not sure.)
I have worked as a research assistant/lab coordinator for NYU's marketing department.
I have worked as a student worker at NYU for almost three years.
And lastly, in terms of healthcare, I have volunteered at NYU Langone Medical Center since September.
So while I didn't have much healthcare experience, my experiences were geared around NYU's community.
I submitted three letters of recommendation to NYU: One from my NYU Langone, one from the NYU student job I am currently working, and one from my chemistry professor. (I called NYU in the beginning of the semester and while the website says 1-2 letters of recommendations, you can still send up to 3, but no more than 4!)
I worked very hard on my personal statement and how my interest in healthcare started from high school throughout my undergraduate career at NYU.
Please let me know if anyone has questions!
Good luck and see everyone in the fall!
