Hi everyone!
I was just wondering if anyone was applying to NYU for the ABSN program in fall 2017? I'm kind of nervous because my GPA isn't the highest since I had to work all four years to help pay for school which took away from my studying time. I do have work experience in the health care field and a little over 100 hours of health related volunteering. Also, how is everyone planning on paying for school since it is soo expensive?
Did you retake it?
Haven't heard back yet, getting nervous. I got a C in anatomy 2 wen I was 18 but I am 26 now and have all A,B in my prerequisite and about a 3.3,3.4 GPA. I have a bachelors in PHysical education and a masters in Health education. Can some1 tell me if that C from wen I was 18 is gonna kill me
just curious, those that got accepted, what are your stats? if you dont mind me asking. i know its a loaded question, just thought it should be asked for some of us that are still waiting on responses from nyu
B.A. in Psychology
Undergrad GPA: 3.62
Nutrition: B+
Developmental Psych: A
Statistics: A
General Chemistry: A
A&P I: B
A&P II: in progress (currently A)
Micro: in progress (currently B)
1 professional letter of recommendation
4 years patient care experience (not sure if this really matters but I mentioned it in my personal statement)
I was waitlisted at UPenn (ultimately not accepted) and also applied to Duquesne but they are still reviewing my application.
I applied before the priority deadline and received my decision by Albert yesterday (Monday) morning. I think there's a lag in the system because I received an email alerting me to change on my Albert about 5 hours later.

Here are my stats. I guess I want to share them because I really didn't think I'd get in due to my low GPA. When they say they look at your application holistically, I think it's really true.
Microbiology, University of California-Berkeley
GPA: 3.1
Strong volunteer experience: free-clinic for 4ish years diagnosing and treating STIs
Research in Environmental Science, Freshman year
Research in Virology, Junior year
Two letters of recommendation from the post-docs that I did research under
Micro: A, (retook at CC cuz I wasn't happy with my undergrad grade)
Anatomy: A
Physio: in progress
Nutri: in progress
Psych: in progress
I was rejected by University of Illinois and George Washington. I rewrote my personal statement to make it more personal, etc. before I sent it to NYU. My personal statement and my experiences are definitely what got me in.
Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear back!
Another question of curiosity....of those that have been accepted, are any of you still finishing up your first undergrad degree? I know that people have gotten accepted with one or more pre-req still incomplete but wondering how they feel about not having graduated yet.
Also, of others - accepted or not - just wondering how many are planning on going into this program directly from undergrad.

hey! id like to say congratulation on getting accepted and thank you so much for sharing! i wanted to get a rough idea on what NYU was considering. like many other, im still waiting to here from them. i hope they come to a decision soon. i guess i should share as well, that would only be fair. i used to be a Nursing student at PACE university. last semester (fall 2016) during my junior year, i was having trouble focusing (more to the story but ill leave it there) on the school work. that ultimately i got academically dismissed. now, im graduating with a psychology degree just so i can try to get into an ABSN program. it would be great if i got a second try:
regardless of that i have a majority of my pre-req taken care minus nutrition which is the only one missing and the one that im taking now.
these are my stats:
B.A. in Psychology
Undergrad GPA: 2.97 (with my current nursing classes. 3.6 without the nursing classes.
Nutrition: IP (currently A)
Developmental Psych: A
Statistics: A
General Chemistry: A
A&P I: -B
A&P II: -B
Micro: +C
i have two letters of recommendation:
one from a sergeant major i used to work with in the ARMY
the other from from my pediatrics professor who's an FNP
i have two years of clinical experience which include Geri, Psych, Med Surge, and pediatrics
i don't know if NYU would accept me, but the fact that i havent heard from them could mean im being considered or they havent gotten to my packet yet haha. anyways i wanted to get an idea if i even had a chance to enter the program. it would be a blessing to have that opportunity. well i'm off, to everyone who's still waiting: good luck! hopefully you wont need it

kind of a follow up to your second question... hopefully this doesn't sound rude but I was wondering on average what ages people are if anyone doesn't mind sharing? I'm 28, got my B.A. in 2009 and then joined the Navy so I'm just trying to figure out if I'm gonna be the old person or if there is anyone else out there around my age

I graduated with a BS in biology with a 3.3 GPA.
At my university, A&P 1 is split into 2 separate grades - I got an A- in lecture, and a B+ in lab.
I unfortunately didn't do well in A&P 2 and received a C-, so I'm currently taking it again and have an A.
Chemistry: B+
Microbiology: B+
Statistics: A
Nutrition: A
Developmental Psychology: A
I was a lab technician/documentation technician/phlebotomist (different times but same company) from sophomore year to the end of senior year, and then became a research coordinator (current role at a new company).
