NYU ABSN Fall 2017
There's a saying amongst pace students so mind my French but "F PACE." I can't speak for the ABSN program but in the undergraduate program, it was hell. We started with 120 and if I'm right they are down to 50-60 students now. The program is designed to have students fail. One way they do it is with their exams, specifically in patho. The exams don't correlate with the material that is taught. So you get tested on stuff that isn't even covered. Me and my group all we used to do is study study and study and then once exam time comes by, and you get your scores, the effort you put in doesn't match your scores. So not only are you frustrated but you're also discouraged. For some reason the staff there has no idea how to make a proper blue print. You just know that 10 chapters are gonna be covered. then when you think things can't get any worse, they do. And to make things worse oh hey! surprise chapter!! That's will also be on the exam! On a good note though, because you do put a lot of effort Into studying, you'll know the material In and out. They force you learn in more creative ways so I do appreciate that skill set. (I say that because they all suck at teaching... you learn to teach yourself) just keep in mind, you'll be learning patho at a medical level +20 years of experience (that's how long the professor in charge of that class has). I can say for sure that the stress that we were put through wont match the stress in any other program. i say that because I do have friends in other ABSN programs and they don't go through half the poop that PACE nursing students go through. I hope this advice can help you out

If I get in, I'll be 30 by the time the program starts. Don't worry about being the oldest... I think it would be nicer to be around people that's about same age frame

NYU ABSN Fall 2017
ryank24 hey! id like to say congratulation on getting accepted and thank you so much for sharing! i wanted to get a rough idea on what NYU was considering. like many other, im still waiting to here from them. i hope they come to a decision soon. i guess i should share as well, that would only be fair. i used to be a Nursing student at PACE university. last semester (fall 2016) during my junior year, i was having trouble focusing (more to the story but ill leave it there) on the school work. that ultimately i got academically dismissed. now, im graduating with a psychology degree just so i can try to get into an ABSN program. it would be great if i got a second try: regardless of that i have a majority of my pre-req taken care minus nutrition which is the only one missing and the one that im taking now. these are my stats: B.A. in Psychology Undergrad GPA: 2.97 (with my current nursing classes. 3.6 without the nursing classes. Nutrition: IP (currently A) Developmental Psych: A Statistics: A General Chemistry: A A&P I: -B A&P II: -B Micro: +C i have two letters of recommendation: one from a sergeant major i used to work with in the ARMY the other from from my pediatrics professor who's an FNP i have two years of clinical experience which include Geri, Psych, Med Surge, and pediatrics i don't know if NYU would accept me, but the fact that i havent heard from them could mean im being considered or they havent gotten to my packet yet haha. anyways i wanted to get an idea if i even had a chance to enter the program. it would be a blessing to have that opportunity. well i'm off, to everyone who's still waiting: good luck! hopefully you wont need it
