NYU ABSN Fall 2013 Entry

Published

Hello everyone! I have submitted my application and my transcripts to NYU for the ABSN program beginning in fall 2013! I am very excited but surprised that we will be hearing so late about an admission decision. Is anyone else applying?

I applied for the early deadline too... I probably wouldn't have if I had known the application would be scrutinized even more than those who applied on April 1st...

I also applied priority deadline and still waiting.

I applied priority and heard April 30th. I got an email from an admissions counselor saying they were missing one of my transcripts (I'm very sure I sent it in - but whatever). Anyways, I got my acceptance about a week later. I was starting to lose hope too. There could be 101 reasons. Maybe the person reading your app got this nasty virus that's been going around and lost days of work. Maybe someone lost your transcript. I personally think its better to get rolling than to release them all at once. Otherwise, we all wouldn't know until June or later. I honestly think its random - the order they look that is -- especially since I think most of us applied priority.

Just try to distract yourself, except for 8-10am on Tuesday & Thursday mornings.

Thank you. But I honestly think I'm the only engineer/naval officer turning nurse around. My story is pretty unusual - which will have both benefits and shortcomings as we start school. I'm probably going to accept my NYU offer today or tomorrow. Just got financial aid.

It's 15 months total - but only 12 months of actual school. We have 4 12 week semesters - with a considerable break in between each. As a mom with 2 little ones -- I'm totally relishing that. Columbia and some other programs do it in 1 year, but it is non-stop. I feel like this will allow us to refresh a bit, prevent burn out, possibly work a bit during breaks.

I'm excited.

I mean I applied by the deadline. I had all my materials (transcripts, recommendations) sent in before the deadline. All of my prereqs are completed (just redoing AP2), and I have a bachelors degree. However they never received my LORs, so I had to resend them. I think maybe that's why I didn't hear back from them.

I just hope I get in, I want to get in.

Hey Samist,

I feel you. I also have a similar problem concerning LORs. I was trying to make priority deadline, I thought the LORs would show up on the checklist like the other application materials. I called the office and spoke to someone, that person told me that they never received it, but then the priority deadline has already passed. So I had to send it in again. After the second time around, it still never made it onto the checklist. That's when I find out that the LORs don't show up on the checklist, and the person that told me how they never received my LOR can just have answered me based on the checklist instead of actually checking my file itself to make sure that it really wasn't there, I mean there's a chance that it really wasn't there, but that kind of messed me up a little bit.

So with that, I might have missed the priority deadline. I am hoping maybe NYU will change things around for applicants. Instead of having the LORs sent in, maybe have the option of sending the recommendation online.

I also am waiting for the day I hear back, and hopefully it'll be good news. :)

Well I figured they would have had all the required items. Well reading from previous posts I decided to call a week or two ago, low and behold they never received the LORs. Well the counselor thankfully gave me the general fax number and her email address. She emailed me back letting me know she received one LOR. I'm just slowly dying from the anxiety!!!! I hope I get good news too!

I applied early February, before the priority deadline, and I'm still waiting to hear back! I got put on the waiting list at the other school I applied to, so I am really hoping I get into NYU. Tuesdays and Thursdays are such stressful days for me. I hope we all hear back soon, I need to make life plans if I don't get it :/

Hello Everyone!

I found out last week that I was accepted for the fall 2013 Accelerated BSN at NYU and I could not be happier! I am from CT and was originally thinking of commuting but I have decided that because of the intensity of the program it would probably be better to live closer to the school. I have to say, I am a little anxious about finding an apartment- it is so expensive around NYU and I am not really that familiar with the area, so I'm not sure where to even begin. I am hoping to find someone to share an apartment with who will also be in the program- if anyone is interested please email me at [email protected]. Even though I am so excited and relieved to have gotten in, I feel like I can't totally relax until I figure out my living situation and what not. Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear! I know how agonizing it is, I was freaking out until I got my email lol!

I'd contacted the admission again to double check that all my application materials were received. Once again, I played the card wondering why the decision has been taking a long time. She said that it was a bit unusual that it has been over 3 months that I haven't heard back. But then she said, they had a change in staffing and training the new staff delayed the decision process. In addition, she said that for folks who are still waiting, it is really in their favor. She had mentioned that many students had either delayed sending in their response or declined, which is a good thing for folks who haven't received a response will most likely be offered seats to fill up the remaining class.

I'm wondering now if I should call now. So anxious!!
