NYP New grad position

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hello.

I recently applied for a new grad position at NYP and I got an email saying my app is currently "being considered" for the new grad opportunity and they will "contact me within the next 2 weeks regarding next step/status etc".

Does that mean I have a chance to land an interview, or is it what everyone gets after they apply?

It was not a computer generated email.....but an email from an actual person......

Any feedbacks will be greatly appreciated! Thank you :)

Yeah I would assume so

Wait, immaRNfinally, did you say what position you interviewed for?

hi future nyp nurses! I'm waiting to hear back from Cornell for an official offer but I was given a verbal offer :) (I'm still skeptical tho)! There is an orientation scheduled for Oct 21 not sure if you would start then? Keep me posted on everything!

congratulations @jessa951! :) hat unit did you receive the verbal offer for? and would you mind telling us about the interview?

congrats! when did they call you? is this for the 20 person cornell med surg program?

Sure you can PM if you want also:) First you will meet with a nurse recruiter if you didn't already do that. Typical behavioral interview questions.. "Tell me about yourself..." Why NYP? + some scenario questions. Then the Patient Care Coordinator (NM) will meet with you but that all depends on the unit.. if peds look up peds scenarios.. for med/surg I looked up past patient care plans and looked up difficult interview questions. KEEP ME POSTED~!! This is an exciting time for all of us! :)

Ahh congrats! I'm so jealous, I want them to call me!!

how do you guys feel about orientation for the med/surg float program being 6 weeks? I dont really know what is the average for a new graduate orientation but i interviewed for another hospital that told me they offered 12 weeks. just seems like a huge difference

last place I was at it was supposed to be 6 months and it became 1.5 months but that was in CTICU which is a whole 'nother ball game. I honestly don't think the amount of time is as important as the will for the nurses to TEACH. If you have a 6 month orientation and your preceptor isnt a good teacher or you guys dont click it is worthless. I think there are units/hospitals that are accepting of new grads and some that simply are not.

I agree that 6 weeks seems kinda short, especially in a float-like position. But I also think if at the end of that time period, you could ask for another week or two. I'd be happy to get anything at this point and because NYP is such a good facility, they're not just going to throw people out there unprepared, at least I hope not.

Did anyone receive an email from talent acquisition that read their application will be reviewed during the august/september timeframe? I received the email after I completed the nurse battery test.

I didn't, just got invited to the new grad event and have been told to sit tight ever since.
