I finished my LPN-RN program from Carleen Health Institute. I took the NCLEX under New York state board and passed the exam. I'd been waiting on the license a couple of weeks and decided to call NYbon, was told the school is under review - hence they would not be issuing any licenses till the review is done. They also wouldn't give a time frame. Does anyone have any idea how long these reviews usually take or what could be done in situations like this?
Why they are not even releasing those people score to their home state granted you don't want to issue them a license at least let them be licensed elsewhere im talking about people who went to other schools not by the other 3 schools, why are they adding more schools to the list each time. Plus I'm pretty sure NYBON knows who got their license illegally why is it taking so long over a year almost
Maria30 said:@Tara45 all you can do is wait. Fl and all the fraud people were doing made them start to look into other schools; cause too many people taking exams in NY. It's really sad that people have to suffer because people wanted to cheat the system and not go to nursing school and get the proper education.
@starr2022 its not just flights and hotels, its everything together. Classroom and clinical site proof.
right if NYS BON or any BON at this point wants true verification of attending a school they only thing that is going to bare any weight in merit would be class work and clinicals not flights and hotels
Per NY interim report: Florida Nursing School Investigation they are going back to 2016 to review credentials; even to 2003 for Siena College.
Class syllabus, test results, clinical placements, student course evals, any emails from instructors, etc will all be needed as proof that actual education occurred. Those that bought diploma will be denied license/have license revoked due to "moral character" issue of FRAUD.
Quote...Applications from individuals who applied with education from one of the schools above but who have not been licensed, will be contacted in the coming weeks. Those applications will be held until the applicant demonstrates that they have met the requirements for acceptable education, examination, and moral character.
The New York State Education Department is actively pursuing additional information from the federal authorities and will take appropriate action regarding the licensure or application status of any individual who is confirmed to have been approved to sit for the examination or obtained their license based on false and misleading information provided by the above-named schools. By law, however, certain aspects of the criminal investigation must remain confidential for the time being and potential disciplinary action by the Department against any specific individual cannot be publicized until completed.
Those who actually attended these schools, should get together for lawyer to request class action suit against school operators, IMHO.
7 more nursing schools under FL education review, see list below that will also affect NY license.

Florida's Commission for Independent Education has ordered seven nursing schools allegedly tied to the fraudulent degree scandal to pause graduation and enrollment activities through March, the state confirmed to Becker's Feb. 15.
The commission held an emergency meeting Feb. 10 to consider action against the institutions, all of which are presently or have been connected to at least one individual charged for their alleged participation in the sale of phony nursing degrees and transcripts.
The seven nursing schools were ordered to cease graduation and enrollment through at least March 31. Of these seven, four have voluntarily ceased all operations for an indefinite period to conduct an internal audit. Each institution must also provide lists and contact information for all current students, graduates and faculty, along with "any and all NCLEX numbers the institution uses or has used in the past," a spokesperson for the Florida Department of Education told Becker's.

Operation Nightingale and Florida Nursing Education – Questions & Answers
"Federal authorities identified the following six (6) schools that allegedly awarded fraudulent documents to students during the time periods specified that are affected by license surrender this year" -- see Q+A for schools and dates with fraudulent attendance concerns (previously posted here).
There are MANY more questions and answers listed at above NY BON link including: how to surrender nursing license; Transfer credit from an allegedly fraudulent school cannot be transferred to another institution; If one had previous LPN diploma from different LPN program and previous LPN license, can obtain a NY LPN license -- YES upon surrendering RN license; which Florida authorities to report nursing program that you attended in person, etc.
Hi everyone,
I'm also from NY. I attended school in Florida and took my NCLEX and got the good pop up. I still don't have my results though.
If my school IS NOT under investigation or review will NYBON process my stuff?
I'm a little confused about how the NYBON is going about this. If they are placing some students education under review why issue them ATT in the first place, only to hold up their license???
Update on carleen health institute,
Florida department of education is conducting an investigation on carleen institute
And a couple of other florida nursing programs.
ROK said:A little bit confused, are they sending these emails to students who went to these schools and got involved in this scam only ( 7,600 students ) or it does not matter ?
they are rejecting educaton for all students who went to that school during a specific time frame that are licensed and or still waiting to take the NCLEX
Maria30 said:They rejected people that were waiting to test and those for endorsement for those schools that were listed in fraud case. NYBON has not suspended anyone that is currently licensed from those schools. They are still active and working. I believe there deciding what to do about all those nurses in NY since the majority were licensed in ny state. Other states have taken away anyone license that attended any of those schools, which was a small percentage. Also they did give those a hearing to show proof, which so far no one has shown evidence as going. Online is not adequate as a student stated as going
That's not true cause it was listed on NYS site that they have started sending out letters to those with licenses asking to turn it in voluntarily and no criminal action would be taken and people on here did say they received letters to give it up so not everyone is still working or have active licenses. @Maria30

I am not talking in this post regarding so-called students who PAID for a degree with out completing the assignments (written or verbal), tests, clinical practice, leadership activities, etc. All parts of a curriculum a graduate must complete. I am directing this to those who DID.
There have been some lawsuits on record that opposed the legitimacy of a schools programs and gave monetary compensation. YOU, The student did NOT do anything illegal...the school did something that interfered with the students program/graduation and subsequent licensure mainly keeping state approval. The mechanism for keeping RN school approval has been instituted by the Florida Department of education and the FBON for 3-5 years.
For those of you who went to Carleen: Once again: here is what is stated in the Carleen Student Handbook:
If you went to another school check your handbook for language about tuition.
I feel the AN participants calling us 'trolls' may have an interest in this NOT going to court or mediation. That is my feeling as we have seen some obstructionists' on this particular subject. and these posters only post on this topic. Remember, some of these school owners are still having LPN programs, still collecting $$ tuition, (living on what YOU paid for your RN program) have homes and roots in their community. These negligent RN educators do NOT want to lose it all.
Since many of you became friends during your education could you organize a group to see an RN education attorney for a first free visit?
