NY License and Moral Character

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi, I am going to be a nursing student in the fall of 2024 but was looking into the licensing questions related to good moral character. Specifically, the question below.

"Has any hospital, licensed facility or clinical laboratory restricted or terminated your professional training, employment, or privileges or have you ever voluntarily or involuntarily resigned or withdrawn from such association to avoid imposition of such measures?"

I worked at a hospital in 2020 where I was forced to resign because I took home paper plates from the cafeteria. Do I need to answer yes to that question and also how does the BON look into these kinds of situations to verify applicants' answers?

Before you start any nursing classes, you need to ask the BON.

Been there,done that said:

Any specific reason? Could this be a reason to deny my request for licensure? And when I call, you recommend I explain the situation to get their personal opinion on the matter?

Because the board of nursing (BON) is ultimately going to be the final arbiter whether the statement you provided in your initial post is applicable.

I can't answer this question, nor can anyone else on this site.

I would suggest you email, rather than call, as this provides written documentation.  And yes, you should explain the situation.

Best wishes.

I would not mention it for obvious reason. Is there a suit or record pending? Come on.

No LOL here. Op states "Has any hospital, licensed facility or clinical laboratory restricted or terminated your professional training, employment, or privileges or have you ever voluntarily or involuntarily resigned or withdrawn from such association to avoid imposition of such measures?"  Their  entire future career  plans revolve around  that action of taking paper plates. Only in nursing could paper plates screw you in advance.

Unfortunately, the Board of Nursing (BON) will not provide information on the likelihood of a pre-nursing or nursing student being approved to take the NCLEX until it is time to apply for the exam.

Your best shot is to answer all questionnaires honestly and hopefully proceed with nursing school.

I think that it's laughable to persecute this poster over paper plates...
