Hello , Everyone I'm a third semester student at Northern Virginia Community College and I know this is a bit early to be inquiring about nursing school but I just would like to get a head start on getting to know everyone interested in applying! I'm excited for the upcoming semester! i have some ice breakers to get this conversation started as well. Has anyone taken the TEAS test yet and if so how was your experience? and also do you have any remaining classes to take before applying.

Retaking my TEAS tmrw ?..

Anyone have the link to the 2018 thread? I think I remember a girl who had a 4.0 and a great TEAS not getting in.. Omg I’m so nervous lol

Hope everything went well. Best of luck! How was it? Did you get the same questions as to when you first took the test? We all just want to get into a program and work towards being a nurse! It shouldn't be this difficult.

I got the same score ?..I did notice some of the reading questions were the same..math was a little bit easier the second time. It says 81% of the students got the same score as me so idk how to feel..I’m just going to include my resume to show my certifications and work experience and hope that helps..but I was thinking too if they wanted everyone to have 90-100 TEAS scores they would’ve made that part of the requirements so I’m trying to be optimistic lol crazy how there’s a nurse shortage but they make you jump through so many hoops to become one..

Do you mind sharing your Score? Every one who applied to the 2018 class got accepted according to the counselor I spoke with.

Don't forget to attach your TEAS to the application! My friend forgot to attach and she got an email telling her to attach her TEAS and to submit her high school transcript if she hadn't already given it to NOVA. They have a guide "all about the teas at nova" on their MEC Exchange Blog. https://blogs.nvcc.edu/mecexchange/2019/02/13/all-about-the-ati-teas-at-nova/

Oh but to make you feel better, I got a 70 overall. Were the Science and English questions completely different? When I spoke to an adviser they said they first look at your prereqs and then your teas nothing else. I feel like a 4-hour test should not determine how well you will do in a program. My grades are great but it doesn't add up to my teas score. I'm really anxious and hate that my teas score will make or break me.

I received a 76 total, 84 on reading.. I’m mad because a 78 is considered “advanced” and I was so close ?.. but my prereqs are a 3.6, I have an associates, certifications, work experience and a lot of classes that are required for this program I’ve already taken and are transferred in so I’m just praying for the best cause I’m pretty much half was there lol the science was harder the second time around and I did better on my English the second time (I still don’t know when to use a semicolon ?)..a lot of people agree that the TEAS doesn’t determine how well you do in nursing school. Again previous years the scores were 75 and up.. wasn’t it like 58 last year? I passed the minimum requirement so again hoping for the best lol I did hear from one of the advisors that everyone that met the minimum was accepted but that doesn’t match up with what I read in the 2018 thread..I’m planning to submit my application tomorrow ??

Hi, I‘ve been looking for a forum just for NVCC students applying for nursing but couldn’t find one until this.

Anyway, I’m very anxious about applying. I have yet to take the TEAS next week, March 15th, is that too late? Does it matter if I’d submit my application right before the deadline? Also, my current GPA is 3.48. I’ve been studying for the TEAS for months but I’m still anxious because I feel like getting a high score on that would put me in a competitive spot since I don’t think my GPA’s competitive enough.

Anyway. I wish all of us good luck!

I have yet to take it, too! I’m taking it Monday or Tuesday? The application is short right?

For 2017 they dropped the score to 58 and got hundreds of apps. For 2018 they raised it to 78 and took every applicant, even those who didn’t make the minimum TEAS requirement.

It’s already pre filled out mostly from your NvCC file, just have to do a little bit of the form and attach your TEAS results and HS transcript if they don’t have it on file already

It doesn’t matter when you apply, as long as it’s before the deadline.

Is the high school transcript and teas attachment all we have to submit?
