Hello , Everyone I'm a third semester student at Northern Virginia Community College and I know this is a bit early to be inquiring about nursing school but I just would like to get a head start on getting to know everyone interested in applying! I'm excited for the upcoming semester! i have some ice breakers to get this conversation started as well. Has anyone taken the TEAS test yet and if so how was your experience? and also do you have any remaining classes to take before applying.

- The program normally has between 78 and 220 students depending on how many clinical spots they can secure. They expect around 115 seats this next cycle, said my friend that works in the department.
- The most important thing is your grades in your prerequisite courses BIO 141 and PSY 230. Your TEAS scores are secondary to your grades in those two courses.
- Make sure you attach your ATI TEAS score report with the breakout scores for each section when you apply.
- If your high school transcript isn't on file make sure to also attach it to the application. you can email the student services MEC Counselor email, but it has to be from your NOVA student email and include your ID number. They will check to see if it has been scanned to your record.
- The application is online, so you will need to be able to log into your MYNOVA account.
Hello thanks for this info it’s very useful! I’m currently having difficulty studying for the teas so if anyone is interested in a study group I would be glad to set something up, now in regards to the teas scores what should an applicant be shooting for ? And if you don’t mind me asking were your past scores.

i just bought the TEAS Mastery App for $10 for 1 month since I noticed I was only 2 points away from advanced on my TEAS.. English is my worse subject, I’m retaking it 2/20
They don’t have one this year for the nursing program. On the application the information session field is grayed our when you select nursing on the program list.
I don’t know if it’s worth mentioning..but I noticed they took out “reaching the minimum requirements doesn’t guarantee admission” on the the powerpoints and the program brochure so maybe that’s a sign? ? I remember one of the advisors told me that everyone who met the minimum was let in last year..idk I’m just being hopeful ?

They took students who didn’t even reach the minimum last year. If you go on the 2018 board you can see several who didn’t.

&& I also heard they might be getting rid of the hybrid program? they said that 2018 was the last year...Which is confusing cause it’s still on the application..
has anyone submitted an application yet? I just paid for my background check ?
They didn’t have a 2018 Hybrid class, or I would have been in it. They had to adjust their curriculum to meet new state requirements and doing that plus the Hybrid was too much. I was only one pre req short of applying for fall 2018 when I found out they canceled the Hybrid. And of course it was BIO 142 which isn’t even a pre req anymore. I wish I had just applied and seen if they would have made an exception for me like they did the other applicants that didn’t meet the requirements. But then my husband would have still been deployed and my baby would have been only 7 months. Better to have waited til this fall.

What resource did you find most helpful for the test now that your done testing.
