Hello , Everyone I'm a third semester student at Northern Virginia Community College and I know this is a bit early to be inquiring about nursing school but I just would like to get a head start on getting to know everyone interested in applying! I'm excited for the upcoming semester! i have some ice breakers to get this conversation started as well. Has anyone taken the TEAS test yet and if so how was your experience? and also do you have any remaining classes to take before applying.

It was by someone who applied. But I spoke to the MEC counselor and here is what she said when I asked if we can include that information: "You can, however it will not be looked at." WHAT?! that just sucks. I mean I am really disappointed. and also for the gpa, she told me its based on all the courses I have take at NOVA or most recent college. I thought it was mainly the prerequisites gpa that was looked at? I am so confused because I keep being told different answers!

Hey hope what classes are you taking this semester

Hey guys I’m looking for some insight..

I have my associates in medical assisting and retuned back to nova to pursue my dream of becoming a nurse..I have a 2.67 overall (because drama years ago) but my prereqs I have a 3.5..I just took the teas and got a 76..the minimum is 68. Should I take the test again? Will I get into the program?

I’m kinda conflicted cause when I saw the counselor he said anyone that met the minimum requirements got in last year and they are mostly looking at BIO141 &142, and PSY230 and if that’s the case i have BAA and he said that was the 2nd tier. I need guidance ?. I didn’t see anything on the application about letters of recommendation or work experience.

thank you!

Hello CMA2RN1 are you applying to Nova? and they just recently said that bio 142 is no longer a requirement to apply so i would worry to much about that, I would take the section you scored the lowest in over but i think your score is proficient ! and if you don't mind me asking , what did you use to study cause currently I'm studying the ATI secrets.

I am applying to nova. I didnt know you could take specific sections, I thought you had to take the whole section...I still might take it again to try to get an 80. I used the ATI TEAS Practice Test A&B, Mometrix ATI TEAS secrets, Brandon Craft for Math and literally any TEAS 6 practice online lol I’m hoping my associates will give me a leg up ?

okay it doesn't hurt to retry! and I'm currently at a lost myself trying to find co enrollment programs I can enroll in while in nursing school to obtain my bachelors immediately after graduation ? any recommendations! i don't wanna look at a million schools and make a decision !

Hello,

Just to be clear, The application deadline is March 20? Don't you guys think that they open up the application way longer than it should be? Two months is a bit too long. The application itself isn't complicated either.

I am probably doing the GMU program. It takes one more semester after you take your NCLEX. But you have to have your core classes for the BSN done.

Since they put the TEAS requirement back up to 68%, they have a hard time filling the cohort and have extended it past March especially since last year there was a prereq change really close to application deadline and many couldn’t complete the class in time. They took students last year that didn’t quite have all the requirements as well.

Are you saying that they are going to extended it this year and I’m looking into their co enrollment program but unsure of what classes to take!

Do you guys know how many spots there are? I'm really afraid of not getting in. Has anyone taken the teas? If so, how was the science section? Also, do you need to bring a NOVA student ID or can any ID do?

I just brought my license..it’s mostly A&P but I would brush up on life sciences as well

Has anybody looked at the application? What are they asking for?
