NVCC / NOVA Traditional Nursing Fall 2019 - MEC

Hello , Everyone I'm a third semester student at Northern Virginia Community College and I know this is a bit early to be inquiring about nursing school but I just would like to get a head start on getting to know everyone interested in applying! I'm excited for the upcoming semester! i have some ice breakers to get this conversation started as well. Has anyone taken the TEAS test yet and if so how was your experience? and also do you have any remaining classes to take before applying.

The application is pretty straight forward. You just put in personal information and that's pretty much it. At first, I was shocked to how simple it was. How detail is the A&P questions? I'm really nervous about taking it.

I was just pointing out to saraaaaa that last year they went even longer than the already long application window.

I went to a BSN advisor appt at GMU with my printed transcript and we went over all the classes I needed to take. It’s one day a month for walk ins I feel like. I have some college before this so I wanted to see what I had that would work. Do you have previous college classes?

There are usually 60 spaces. The Kaplan TEAS study book was very helpful for prep. I took my TEAS today. The application is really straightforward since they don’t really take much anything into account other than GPA/transcript, TEAS score, and what county you live in.

WHAT, just 60. I really thought it was close to 100. Are you sure?

Theres more than 60 spaces I believe , if you look at last years previous forum there was 100+ students accepted

And what day do they do walking in advisements I know its only once a month but I was jw

You’re right, I misread the classes. There are 110 slots this spring with 6 openings so I’m guessing the cohort was 110 and 6 dropped maybe?

I can’t remember, I went last year. You could call the nursing department and ask if you can’t find it on the website

- On the teas, do they give you the conversations for the geometry questions along with the metric system? So you don't have to memorize any of it or some material?

-Also, did you need to know where muscles and bones were?

I didn’t get any formulas I had to memorize them. And I suggest you know everything A&P related to help you answer the questions to the best of your abilities

I have to wait 30 days to retake it so I’m taking it again mid February.. definitely recommend the ATI Practice Test it is very similar to the test..they are a little pricy but worth it IMO, I got mine on sale for $65..
