Hello , Everyone I'm a third semester student at Northern Virginia Community College and I know this is a bit early to be inquiring about nursing school but I just would like to get a head start on getting to know everyone interested in applying! I'm excited for the upcoming semester! i have some ice breakers to get this conversation started as well. Has anyone taken the TEAS test yet and if so how was your experience? and also do you have any remaining classes to take before applying.
Hi all! First post, been lurking for awhile now. I'm applying - 4.0 in all prereq's and an 86 on the TEAS (100 math, 91 english, 92 reading and 64 science). Not sure if I should retake it to up my science score. I used the ATI study guide and tests for practice as well as mometrix, which I found to be super helpful for math, reading and english. The online ATI tests are very similar to the real one. The science questions are very specific and were mostly A&P for me. If I take it again, I plan to spend time dedicated to each A&P system, reviewing my class notes and watching Khan academy videos.
hey ladies! so glad someone made this for the upcoming application! I am kinda nervous because I took A&P 1 in 2014 at another VCCS school and got a B and tried to retake it at nova but ended up withdrawing cause it was too much. Do you think that will affect my acceptance? I have a 3.577 rn and am taking PSY200 for the first 8 weeks so it should bring my GPA to a 3.6 if I keep this A. I haven't taken my TEAS yet. Anyone have any good practice test links they recommend? I ran into this one girl who works at a restaurant. She was in my A&P 2 class. She said she got in for fall 2018 but dropped out cause it was too much for her. Also, she said she didn't get in because she had a B in anatomy. anyone else hear anything similar??

sorry I think the last part was confusing. she didn't get in the first time because of her B in A&P. She got in the second time she applied and thats when she dropped out.

National mean is obviously national but then it says “all ADN program mean” and “percentile rank % of students who scored at or below your score”
I’m trying to understand my score more
The all ADN program mean = average for all ADN programs. NVCC is an ADN program, whereas GMU is a BSN program. So if the average for math is 70% for ADN programs, that means the mean for people applying to the ADN programs in math is 70.
% of students who scored at/below your score = % who got the same or less than you. For example, let's say someone got an 80 in reading and the % at/below is 85. That means that you did better than 85% of students or 85% of students received less than 80 in reading.
Hello everyone,
I just took my interview with the Kaplan test and essay. I am a little scared because I got a 54 overall score on my Kaplan test. However, for the science I got a 70 and 71 on the math. I did really bad on the english and writing part since english isn't my first language. However, I have a GPA of 3.82 and 5 years experience working in a hospital. Which I hope will work to my benefit.
Will my high GPA outweigh the low Kaplan Score?

Nova does not require the Kaplan they require the ATI teas
