Hello , Everyone I'm a third semester student at Northern Virginia Community College and I know this is a bit early to be inquiring about nursing school but I just would like to get a head start on getting to know everyone interested in applying! I'm excited for the upcoming semester! i have some ice breakers to get this conversation started as well. Has anyone taken the TEAS test yet and if so how was your experience? and also do you have any remaining classes to take before applying.

I applied on March 15 but I haven't heard back from them Anyone else? Should I contact them and ask? Getting worried

I applied on March 6 and heard back last Friday, so I think you should hear this week or next on eligibility. Seems every app is reviewed in the order that they were submitted to determine if eligible or not.

Okay thanks! This wait is killing me

I applied right before deadline (the 18th maybe?) and haven’t heard back so I wouldn’t worry.

I'm actually pretty relieved that people are starting to get updates within less than two weeks. ? I applied on the 20th, so I'll def give an update if I receive anything.

Has everyone received an email yet? MEC facebook said the program will begin ranking.

Yes, just got my email that my app had the minimum requirements and is being moved to the next round. I applied 3/12 so they’re moving fast ?

Patience is a virtue.. esp in nursing ?

Does anyone have backups that they are looking into? I think we're all very anxious about this. I've been exploring options in the case that I don't get in this fall, the first being applying for next Spring. Other than that, I'm not sure. I already have a bachelor's degree and doing an ABSN isn't an option for me right now because I need to work while going to school and those programs don't allow for working. Also, I've heard great things about NVCC's nursing program from people in the field.

What other programs do people know about as a backup if not accepted here or next Spring?

Im going to apply in July again if I don't get in. I really have no other interest in other fields like i do with nursing. I've wanted to get into this field for years! Anything else and I wouldn't enjoy my job. Although, I would like to teach healthcare at some point in my career. I briefly thought about getting a teaching degree. I am a sub teacher right now in an elementary school. It's challenging but rewarding. I know a teacher in the school right now that I sub in, who used to be a nurse. She started teaching because she was burnt out from the hours and shift changes from nursing. Also, being a way from her kids was hard and she said the healthcare insurance is so much better than before as a nurse.

However for right now Im laser focused on nursing.

So the counselors just make sure you have the minimum requirements then they take your application to the nursing department? Is there another step or after it reaches the department you’ll know if you’re accepted or not?
