Just got a provisional acceptance letter and 4 steps to complete. My prerequisite GPA was a 4.0 and cumulative for everything was a 3.5. I’ve completed all co-requisite and have about 50 total credits I applied last year and didn’t get it so very excited. CONGRATS to all who got accepted and to this who didn’t I know the feeling but please don’t loose hope. It’s just a matter of timing your time will come ?

Oh goodness, there’s literally nothing you could have done better! I’m so sorry. Will you be applying again in the Spring too?

I just got my emailed acceptance and hope it wasn't a mistake. despite a low overall GPA, I completed all prereqs (4.0) and I'm a resident of fairfax county. I also completed the TEAS and felt like my score was competitive, though I know this wouldn't have factored into it.

as a pessimist, I'd been having recurring dreams that I didn't get in so I felt prepared and ready to do more classes and a cna program in preparation for re-applying in the Spring.

good luck to everybody.

edit: I'm honestly pretty shocked. maybe it was a mistake? haha, very nervous but also very excited! definitely going to order take out tonight and hug my dog ?

Congratulations! I just got my rejection letter which I was expecting due to my grades in bio 141 and psy 230. I completed all the co-requisites and scored well (or so I hope so) on my TEAS. Can I ask what you scored on the TEAS for each category? Specifically science?

CONGRATS!

I got rejected. Only had one co req done. All a's . I'm pretty disappointed as I studied and spent a long time and alot of money to get an advanced score on my TEAS. Feel really deflated.

Keep your head up! I also got rejected which I was kinda expecting because even though I finished all co reqs and scored well on my TEAS, my grades in bio 141 and psy 230 were awful.

Hi guys

Does anyone know if NOVA has a waitlist for nursing in case people turn down the offer or don’t complete requirements??

I wondering the same thing as I was also rejected from the program. Also, what are the four required steps? Is there a due date on them? Just trying to gauge what a second chance for consideration might look.

Congratulations, I’m so excited for you! I’m an optimist and bought myself a nice bottle of champagne in hopes that I’d have good news to celebrate... I too will be getting take out and hugging my dog and drinking consolation champagne tonight LOL. Hopefully I’m not far behind ?

yes, do that! this is what dogs were made for. to you and to everybody (and as a personal reminder): keep moving forward, like a shark. just don't give up.

honestly, a little more optimism would have gotten me a lot further a lot sooner just about everywhere in life. plus my skin would have looked better.

Me, too! Does yours say "provisional acceptance" with those 4 steps that must be completed? CONGRATS to others as well!

hey CONGRATS! and yes! I only shortened it to 'acceptance' because I was a little frazzled & the acceptance is only based on doing steps 1-4.

I'm sorry to hear that--it's utterly confusing. our stats do seem pretty similar. I wonder if it makes a difference where in fairfax county you live/pay taxes? I do live within the MEC's zipcode, but my understanding is that simply living in-county grants a bonus.

compared to other programs, nvcc's selection criteria is less of a black box than others but... at the end, it's still a black box. good luck in Spring--pushing back the acceptance deadline made this unusually competitive.

Basically attend Orientation (July 27), confirm attendance for orientation/ program (by July 1), drug screen/ background check (order by July 20) and pass both from Castlebranch, and register for classes (more info to come). Also must attend remotely the MEC Symposium and show proof of immunizations.

I guess I actually live in Fairfax City. Maybe that’s why I didn’t get in? I don’t know. I’m pretty surprised though.

Hi guys! I got my provisional acceptance letter and was surprised as well because I thought I wouldn't get in. My overall GPA was a 3.63. I had completed BIO 141 and PSY 230 with A's and completed all co-requisites with A's and B's. I'm a resident of Fairfax County. However, I don't think my TEAS scores were competitive. I was already planning to study for the TEAS to prepare for the Spring 2020 application.

--Also I thought they were going to accept 100 applicants

Thank you for sharing, & CONGRATS it's a huge accomplishment!!
