For those that are applying to the Fall 2020 Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA/NVCC) Fall nursing program we'd like to invite you to reach out to us with any questions you may have.

Make sure to review the information session and program application requirements on our application portal, www.nvcc.edu/medical/apply and our FAQ on our blog https://blogs.nvcc.edu/mecexchange . If you have advising questions drop our office a line by email at [email protected]. One of our advisors will respond. We recommend that if you have questions about your NOVA account, you contact us via your official NOVA student email address. When doing so include your ID number. that will allow our advisors to look up your account and answer questions in greater detail.

based on the letter, it sounds like there is a waitlist. they want people to confirm their attendance before July so they have the chance to offer the remaining seats to other students.

I just got my rejection letter. This was my third time applying. I feel so down. I have only one co-req left so I guess I will take that and hopefully the testing centers open so I can retake the TEAS to improve my scores even more. I will just keep trying until I get in. CONGRATS and good luck to everyone that got in!

Hi guys! I don’t comment much on here but I’ve been stalking this thread like crazy since applying LOL. But I just got my acceptance letter! I’m sooo happy! This was my third time applying in the past few years. I hadn’t retaken the TEAS (they are expired) so I just had to hope that my pre-req grades and my completion of co-reqs were enough to be accepted. For those who weren’t accepted, don’t lose hope! I had nearly given up until now. This is what I had: A in all pre-reqs accept for PSY 230 (I got a B) an A in bio 142, B in BIO 150, A in CST 229. Plus a bunch of other classes since I just finished my general studies degree at nova. But the ones I listed are the ones that count though. I really didn’t know what to expect, I’m just on cloud nine right now! CONGRATS to everyone who was accepted!

congratulations on getting accepted!! Can I ask what you scored for the categories on the TEAS exam?

Thank you! I thought this day would never come. The last time I took the TEAS was a few years ago, before they added the science category. I had a 86% in reading, 75% in english, and my lowest score was math at 70%. I actually ran out of time on the math section and guessed on the last questions, so I was surprised that I even got a 70%. I had purchased the online practice test to retake them, but then they announced they were being waived for this application cycle. So in my case that worked in my favor. I really feel for the people who took the TEAS and scored well on them, only to have them not even considered. I would be really frustrated if it were me. I even re took BIO 141 and 142 to get better grades, which I'm so glad I did. Dr. Paul Lea at Annandale campus is absolutely amazing for anyone looking to retake those classes. But his class fills up fast so do it early!

I got an acceptance letter, then 5 minutes later I get an correction email for rejection. This is awful.

I got a denial email then acceptance email and then another denial email. I don’t know what to think.

Just a reminder that the ATI TEAS was not used to rank students.

The nursing brochure lists the criteria used to rank students.

We recommend that you compare what you did and what is listed on the selection criteria section of the brochure.

  • PSY 230 grade
  • BIO 141 grade
  • Completion of
    • CST elective,
    • Humanities elective
    • BIO 142
    • BIO 150

Students that are out of state, F-1, our out of our service area are ranked last.

  1. Legal residents domiciled in the cities and counties supporting the College, [ generally northern Virginia wherever we have a campus]
  2. Other Virginia legal residents,
  3. Out-of-state applicants, and
  4. International students requiring form I-20
