Hi,
I just need some insight from all of you...I am planning to apply for nursing at NVCC for fall 2016. I have finished all my prerequisites and general requirement with the gpa of 3.7 but my teas score is on the lower side. I still have two chances to take it again but the student services have told me that since I passed I can't take it again. Is it true? If I were to take it again, will the nursing team take my highest score for consideration? Any help will be appreciated! 😊
This is no nerve racking! I can not even begin to explain my anxiety. I wanted to know If anyone asked when we are suppose to do the physical, immunization and drug screening in the event that we do get accepted? I also heard something about insurance, what kind of insurance are we required to have?

Someone did ask about the physical, immunization, etc. The student services rep said that they will be letting us know at the Nursing orientation when we will have to get that done. Which will most likely be shortly after we have orientation that all of it will have to be completed.
Regarding the insurance: it is called Liability Insurance, aka malpractice insurance. He said that it is typically around $30 or so to cover you for the year. We will be getting more info on that at the Nursing orientation as well.
I hope they take more than 20%. I was nervous to begin with about getting in, and hearing this made me so much more anxious. He also said we may only know a few days or a week beforehand for the orientation, I am really hoping we get more notice, I know a weeks notice will be rough for me to get off work.
Does anyone think that they'll end up increasing the percentage of students accepted from 20%? Because it's extremely nerve racking to think that only 50 out of around 250 (or slightly more) traditional program applicants will get accepted...
I read a comment on the fb page where they said that for previous years it has been 80/20. 80% gets accepted, 20% does not. This is an extreme change from 80% getting accepted.
Reading this is so discouraging! I applied last year for the traditional nursing program and got in. For personal issues i wasn't able to attend and i was hoping that the fact that they lowered the scores to apply would give me an advantage this time around! I hope we hear back soon this is killing me

It truly is discouraging. I chatted with the person from the MEC fb page again to ask them if there is any possibility that they would decide to increase the percentage of how many students would get accepted, and they told me no... That it would still be only around 20% that they would accept (although the students service rep in the video said that it would possibly increase if they found more openings for clinical sites. Which is currently in the works). I just don't understand it, and I hope that it's some sort of misinformation; especially since one person says one thing, and another person says another thing.
I just can't wrap my head around how it would go from 80% of acceptances in the past to now 20% only because it was one of the largest applicant pools that they've had in the past few years. I guess the best we can do is still remain positive and not let the anxiety get the best of us while we continue to wait.
I heard from people that are currently in the program that the whole thing is chaotic! The dean got fired and last I checked, they hadn't found a replacement. The school was actually on probation with the VBON. That may be the reason why they lowered the acceptance rate to 20% this time around!
Really?? Wow! But on the comment of the live video, he say it's 80% accepted, 20% rejected?? So I am confused. I check the classes for the nursing program and the highest seats will like 100-120? I was trying to planned my schedule for work since I am full time and now I have to be part time. If I do get in. Hopefully we get some news. Letting yall know. The NUR 111 will take two days off for anyone who work full time since its 6:45 am-3 pm. One is lecture and the other is clinical. And then their is lab!!!!
