Nvcc fall 2016

Published

Hi,

I just need some insight from all of you...I am planning to apply for nursing at NVCC for fall 2016. I have finished all my prerequisites and general requirement with the gpa of 3.7 but my teas score is on the lower side. I still have two chances to take it again but the student services have told me that since I passed I can't take it again. Is it true? If I were to take it again, will the nursing team take my highest score for consideration? Any help will be appreciated! 😊

I'm watching the live Q&A right now - he just said 20% will be accepted.. that seems really small?... :-/

20%?! Wow...

Isn't 20% of 400 applicants just 80 students...? Sounds ridiculous :(

I know??? I'm about to ask.

I'm currently at work so I can't be tuned into the live stream at the moment. Please let me know what the student services rep tells you!

It sounds ridiculous because I've heard they've accepted over 100 students in previous years. That makes me nervous.

Ok he said 400 is the tentative number including LPN to RN - so the traditional program had about 300 BUT there are a lot of people who were weeded out because of failed teas, missing classes, no hs transcript etc. I'm guessing it was about 250 for traditional.. so about 20% of that - which still doesn't seem right.

Hm... Definitely still doesn't seem right. 20% of 250 students is only 50. I feel like there's no way they'll only accept 50 students out of 250 possible applicants. That is extremely discouraging to hear. Especially because I've heard of over 100 applicants getting accepted in previous years.

I don't think thats right but I feel bad asking again haha

I'm hoping we're being misinformed? Because the person who runs the MEC fb page said we wouldn't know how many applicants would get accepted until next week, as the nursing division still hadn't made a final decision as to how many would get accepted.

No worries! Thank you for asking anyway. I'm hoping they'll clarify that for us next week in one of their statuses or something. I'm hoping it's just misinformation.

He said approximately because they are still working with hospitals to find spaces for clincals

Ah, wow. Well I guess we can just hope for the best at this point.

It doesn't really make sense that they would only accept 50... I'm wondering if he meant thats how many wont be accepted.

That's exactly why I'm questioning that information. It just doesn't make sense. I've heard over 100 students have gotten in every year.
