Hi,
I just need some insight from all of you...I am planning to apply for nursing at NVCC for fall 2016. I have finished all my prerequisites and general requirement with the gpa of 3.7 but my teas score is on the lower side. I still have two chances to take it again but the student services have told me that since I passed I can't take it again. Is it true? If I were to take it again, will the nursing team take my highest score for consideration? Any help will be appreciated! 😊
So I'm a little pissed off..they finally emailed me and I was all excited, only to open it and under "missing items" it says high school algebra, and high school chemistry. Um no. I took CHM 101 this past fall semester, and finished MTT 1-5 (which is the equivalent of high school algebra, it says that right on the list of all requirements page) last summer. I immediately wrote them back and let them know that they were mistaken of course, and I indeed HAVE finished both of those requirements. But its the end of Friday and I'm guessing they wont be writing me back until Monday. Just so nerve racking. I don't know how they can miss that. It says it right on my transcript of my college courses. I've taken literally everything that's allowed within the program. Just frustrated.
I totally understand you're frustration - I applied for the fall 2015 semester and had the same sort of issue...Which ended up forcing me to wait til this year to apply again.
Just a heads up so you can get the ball rolling ASAP and still be eligible for this semester - they will likely want your high school transcript regardless of the fact that you've taken it already in college... I had the exact same scenario and they said even though I took a b c classes in college they still needed my high school transcript.. If you can get it from your high school this week you still will probably have a chance to submit it for the fall. Good luck - I completely understand your worries.
I read that on their latest FB page update as well. From what they have said, that is only the general MEC Orientation though. The nursing division has still not set the date for the Nursing class orientation. I'm hoping they will announce how many students will be accepted very soon also! This waiting period has been a long one.
I included my high school transcript in my application package actually, so they already have it. I wrote them again right now because I don't have any response. That really sucks that you had to wait until this year though, I would be so upset and mad if that happened. I just need to remember I'm just another applicant to them, and obviously they don't care about how hard you worked to even apply. I'm going to call also, even thought they say not too. Because they want you replying directly to the emails they sent. But I feel like if I don't annoy them they won't hurry up and fix it
I think it's for all programs. Someone asked who the orientation is for and they said for all allied health and nursing students.
Yes! But there are two orientations. The general MEC campus orientation, and then another orientation that will be specific to the program for which you applied/get accepted to. So in this case, we will have a 2nd orientation specific to the nursing program. And that is the orientation for which the date has not been announced as of yet.
We're suppose to do both though?
Yes. Both orientations are mandatory. The MEC orientation will be an overview of what services the campus has, etc., and the Nursing Program orientation will be solely focused on information that is relevant to the program. Such as what supplies you'll have to buy, uniform information, etc.

Still haven't received anything over here, even though they're 99% done. What are the chances I'm in that last 1%? Lol I hope they post an update this evening letting us know if the last of the emails were sent out. Because now I'm really worrying
