Nursing as a second degree, Kinesiology 1st

Hi, I am currently getting a degree in kinesiology and plan on going to nursing after I graduate from school. But I was wondering if anyone know if nurses get paid more if you have a double degree that is science based like how I will be with kinesiology and BSN? Does it look better when applying for MSN? Any facts or suggestion will help me!!

It wont make a difference salary wise. I have a true BS, in Biology and have not been offered any more of a salary then some of my fellow classmates who have just a BSN. But it will look good when applying to MSN programs.

Second-degree and second-career people are always v. frustrated (and often angry) to learn that their other degree or career doesn't count for much (if anything) in nursing. But it won't. A new grad nurse is a new grad nurse, regardless of what else you may have done. Nursing and kinesiology are two entirely different worlds.

That is exactly what I have - kinesiology and then a BSN...you will not by any means get paid more. I would guess it looks okay to MSN programs but your gpa in nursing school is most important. You will be counting your blessings if you can land a full-time job after graduating :) Make sure nursing is what you want to do!

You'll get a jump-start on your prereqs as they overlap with your current program's requirements (presumably), and you might have some interesting research directions to go in for your master's thesis when you go for your MS in nursing, but that'll be about it.
