Okay, I've spent hundreds of dollars trying new shoes to get me through three 12 hour shifts in a row. What are your favorites?

I bought my current pair of shoes while in my last semester of NS. At the time, I weighed 255# and suffered terribly from plantar fasciitis. I was havin a really hard time making it through my clinicals, and was so worried about actually having to work 12 hour shifts after graduating. I was seriously considering getting orthotic inserts.

I ended up buying a pair of Skechers Work Gear shoes. These have been the best shoes ever, and were about $50 or so. They have a thick insole which are very supportive, and have non-slip soles. I still wear them every night, and I don't have any problems with my feet. I have lost 30# since graduating NS, so I'm sure that helps with the foot pain too.

If you continue to have problems, you may need to see a podiatrist and get evaluated.

I've bought SO MANY pairs of shoes for nursing. Finally just tried the Crocs and I LOVE THEM. I wear support hose, too.

Current favorites are Easy Spirit Walkers; I have two pairs I rotate. After about 8-10 months, I have to put in a set of insoles, first the regular ones and then the gelsoles. Then I can replace the insoles prn.

I tried clogs and could not keep them on my feet. Crocs hurt and don't provide enough support for me (5'7" and 135lbs) I do better with a snug shoe that holds onto my heel.

I tried Nursemates recently; years ago I used to wear them a lot. Had to take them back since I kept tripping over the big toe box :no: I think my wide feet have widened with age.

Good luck in your search. It's like HTN meds; you gotta keep trying until you get it right.:D

Dansko's and I :redbeathe my pink "Klog" brand shoes, they have this great springy cushion.

This topic has been covered several times in the last year, so suggest you do a search. I used to wear Tevas & really like them. I now wear Saloman Lodger shoes (available at REI). Merrell Jungle Mocs are worth checking out. Zappos.com has other brands I was considering but didn't try out.

I have tried about a thousand different brands of shoes. Now mind you I am 6'2" and weigh 350+ so my feet really hate me, not to mention I have a plantars wart AND a bunion on my right foot (I know, TMI!!!!!), but the best shoes that I have found so far are Asics Gels. They are kinda expensive (about $110) but when it comes to my feet, I'll spend the money!!

Birkenstock's, they are not pretty, but my legs never hurt when I wear them

I bought a pair of nikes when I started my SICU job but quickly put them away after the laces kept coming undone. Not good when you are running around. I have lightweight crocs that I wear from Allheart.com, it's their brand. They are cheap and comfy right out of the box but after a while you can tell the difference. I was thinking about getting the actual croc brand to see if there was any difference.

nike air! even when plantar fascititis flares up....they last 40 hours a week. as far as laces go, i don't tie them in a bow anymore, i knot them and rethread them in the lace holes (a trick from my daughter) now they are slip on :D

I loved a particular pair of Nursemates, but the style has been discontinued. I bought a pair of Danskos about two months ago; best purchase ever! My everyday sneakers and flip flops hurt my feet now! I wear my danskos almost all the time!
