I've heard that resumes are scanned by software that scans them for key words and that if these aren't in the resume it might not be sent to the hiring manager. Is this true. And if so, does anyone have a list of things to put in?

Yes, it is true. Put in what they state they are looking for in the ad, in their own words as much as possible. Their key words will be the same as their ad for the most part.

Yes you heard right, resumes are selected on the basis of keywords on a job portal.

So it is important to keep proper keywords in your resume depending on your field of Job Search.

Not all systems work this way but if a requirement for employment is that you have experience in Telemetry...Make sure TELEMETRY is in your resume. If its not...maybe you shouldn't be applying. There is nothing worse then sifting through resumes of people who do not meet the requirements stated.

Online job applications also have areas for work history where you give summary of job duties/responsibilities. I go into lots of details in this section and list as much as I can. But for my resume we have to keep it short and I struggle with what include. So are the job application software scanning keywords in your resume that you uploaded or in the job application itself? Thanks
