I went alone. I needed to be able to focus on what I was doing, not worrying that my husband was bored. :) I love my husband and I always want to spend every moment with him (I'm serious, we're just like that), but I knew I couldn't have him there -- it was something I had to do completely on my own.

I flew alone from Tampa to Plano in January 2007 for my CPNE. Everyone is different, but I focused so much better without anyone else there. As a "mom" to two rottweilers myself, I am tempted to tell you to bring Sweetpea along for the wonderful company she would no doubt provide......but I shudder to think what kind of damage a bored and lonely rottweiler could do to a hotel room while you are at the hospital testing !!!

Well I am not scheduled yet but,I will be traveling either to Ohio or New York by car.So I am bringing a friend who is an RN and loves to travel! She will drive me back and forth to the Hospital and then she will go exploring! This way if I have any questions she will be there to help me and also for moral support! and when I do my workshop she is going with me for the road trip!:D

When I go, I am so bringing my husband with me! Bored or not, he is good at keeping me sane (and focused). Besides that, I want him there with me to celebrate (hopefully!) or pick up the pieces if things don't go well.

Most people I know have gone alone.

I just get snappy under pressure sometimes (ohhhh, really? LOL), and I didn't want to be ugly to my husband. I'm glad you guys have company you can bring with you!! I was soooo bored on Saturday afternoon, waiting for the final day. Ugh.

I still have 1 more NC exam to take before I can apply but since no test centers are nearby, I have to fly or drive to it. I will probably take my husband and 15 mo old and drop them off with family so I can be alone at the hotel. I need to have them near if I have a breakdown or need support.

That stinks ChangeofPace! Those nursing exams are stressful enough..As if the tests aren't stressful enough! I can't imagine having fly or drive any further than I already do!

if i have to go to amarillo (which is 300 miles + ) i will take my husband cause i should be testing somewhere in the feb - march window and i am afraid i will get hit with snow. if i go to plano i will go by myself cause it is about 1 hour from my house.

It snows in Texas???

Who started this thread again? Anyway, thanks I was thinking the same thing...since I'm not married I'm going to go alone. If I was married I'd be with my husband. I would want someone there close to me who would understand my wants and needs...someone who has my back in whatever situation.

Your husband would have to be the kind of person who would let you be IF need be...and won't get offended or defensive. Think about it seriously...it's a tough decision.:D
