Well, I do work psych so maybe thats why I think it is fun. Where else can I be my crazy self and feel normal.
But on a serious note, I think you can have fun in most facets of nursing, not every day of course, but at times. But maybe that is just my warped sense of fun. I like to make people laugh ( even if its at my expense). Yes there are times where Im dead serious but can also have fun.

Bu...butbutbut...WE DARE TO CARE!!! WE DARE TO CAAARRRREEE!!!
My unit is TONS o fun! In our downtime when we're not caring and not having a dramatic critical life and death incedent, we're all sitting up at the nurses station, someone brings in some music and we're just boogying down, and cracking jokes, and propelling ourselves across the floor on the wheelie chairs!
And then the director calls "CUT!" And it's on to the next scene where I have a TOTALLY hunky patient with A-fib and I'm the smart, witty, snarky and sexy nurse who makes sarcastic jokes- but OHHHH NO DUDE, you make an inappropriate comment to me and I'll be IN YOUR FACE because I'm also NO NONSENSE and I don't take that kind of crap!
Oh well...just another FUN and EXCITING day in the life of a nurse- the hap hap happiest job there is...PLUS we get to wear SCRUBS!!!!!

"...you can look into earning an associate's degree or diploma in nursing. From there, you'll need a passing score on a licensing exam..."
Oh it that all? Well I should just pop on over to a school and take the test, I'm sure it'll be such a breeze since it's just an ADN....
What a doofus (want to say something stronger but I'm a nice person today).

*As you're coding your patient*
"Hey, Mr. Smith, did ya hear the one about the -- 1 amp bicarb -- chicken and the duck who -- epi, please --- who went in and bought a time share together? Well, -- shockable rhythm, clear please -- the chicken decided to have an affair with the duck's wife, and ...."
And the designs the blood makes as you're washing the 10th bedpan full of GI bleed down the drain -- they're just plain artistic!
What a moron.

Someone posted a link to the story on their facebook. But since I am using my phone I didn't feel like typing out what utter BS it is. I am going to when I get home along with the link to this thread. Being a nurse at times may be rewarding, but I would never go as far as to say fun. Unless fun resembles getting the short end of the straw every time.
needless to say, even at the level where i find myself in management, i wouldn't use the verb as "fun" in nursing....just saying
