Hello,
I'm trying to collect information for my union and prove why I should be paid for ALL my years of nursing experience, not just the years I was in a school. Are there any school nurses who have been placed on the salary schedule with ALL their years of nursing experience? If so, can you share where you're located and the school you are at?Thanks SO much! And wish me luck! ?

I only received credit for my part-time work in a school (which only averages 12hours a month for 6years) and the subbing I did. They use a step system in my district and so I started on Step 3 out of 15 as a result.

In my district we get half credit for our experience outside of the school, 1/2 year credit for every year worked. But if a teacher works one semester in a school (4 or 5 months) they get credit for a full year experience. Complete BS if you ask me!

School 1 - only experience r/t "teaching" hospital/clinic
School 2 & 3 - All of my experience, with proof of dates from employers.

new school nurse this school year (started Aug '19).
I have a BSN. I was started on the salary scale that matched my years total as a nurse. ( 6 years experience = step 6 salary) .. move up each year to a new step.

They gave me year-for-year credit on all nursing experience, up to the maximum of 5 years (which is the same max for teachers coming from outside the district).

I'm in Texas and had 20 years of hospital experience before schoool nursing and I started at year 0 on the teacher pay scale- kinda disappointing, but I'm so much happier at my job than I ever was at the hospital so I suck it up. My district pays the highest out of the surrounding school districts so I was happy about that, plus I'm now on my kids schedule too.

Only experience with my CSN counted towards steps. Anything prior, even though it was in the school setting was not counted.

Mine is max three years, same as they do for any teacher regardless of length of experience as well.
