Hello!

If anyone else applying for the nursing corps scholarship 2015-2016 is anything like me then you've been googling like crazy trying to find out information on how to apply or what they need or even previous years winner. Soooooo.....if anyone is applying this year around or previously has and was or wasn't accepted please tell me your experience! Here are my stats PLEASE share yours if you'd like....

maryland full time nursing student.

VP of my local student nurses association

1st semester done ( :) ) asking for 2 years assistance

GPA 3.44

EFC 0000

4 years of community service in underserved communities

I have heard that the scholarship "cycle" begins on July 1st and goes until June 31st. So lets say you have start in the summer before the cycle begins, you can use your scholarship and and apply it for that time.

Lets say the semester starts May 16th and goes to August 30th. The Nurse Corps will pay from July 1st until August 30 for that semester and will be responsible for the prorated cost of that period from May 16th to July 1st. In which case you can use your scholarship from the school and apply it toward that time. Otherwise the Nurse Corps takes care of everything during the contract cycle. Hope this helps.

I am applying for the Nurse Corps Scholarship as well. Just found out that I am going to be a father and this scholarship will be a huge help! I don't know if anyone has any advice for the essays - I am currently torn between how much to disclose about myself personally vs. how much to answer the question in a "matter of fact" sort of way (ie. talking about the "mission" of the Nurse Corps from a more philosophical/social justice stance). Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful.

Congrats on your new addition! For my essays, I got semi-personal, but not too sappy as I didn't want the reader to pity me lol. But I think it is wise to strategically let them know a little more about yourself than what they might gather from just looking at your application packet. It shows that you are human and can better relate to the people you will be serving once you become a nurse. (:

Thank you so much for the tips. I have been working to find that right balance. I usually follow this format for essays: Say what I'm going to do, do it, and finally say what I did. I am having some trouble in finding that balance of trying to integrate my personal experience into the question prompt, all the while keeping it under a page. Thanks for the insight!

Did anyone here receive the nurse Corp scholarship?

I was getting that same message, so I called and had them email me that document. They sent it while we were on the phone

I want to be in the group 😩😢

hey I'm so sorry I didn't see this sooner! I've been incredibly busy with finals and my 8 month old. I know applications are due in one week but if you haven't submitted it and still want the input or reference please let me know! I haven't received notifications for activity on this for some reason but I will continue to check back regularly!

good luck!! :)

Does anyone know if an Accelerated MSN Clinical Nurse Leader is in the First funding preference tier or the second? I checked the Guideline Handbook and they didn't have any information on it. I also called the customer service line and they didn't know either...

Hi everyone! I was reading through the thread pages and I have a question... How do you know if your credit gets pulled? I don't have an account with any website about my credit or anything like that. Kind of confused! Thanks

@Romero1027 Hi there! Congrats on the good news, I was wondering if I could ask you a quick question. Does the 2-year service that you are committing to after school mean that you will not be paid? I was confused from the information I have been reading. I didn't know if the commitment just meant you have to work at their specified sites or if you were dedicating your time without being paid. Might be a crazy question ha let me know please!!

Clinical nurse specialists are typically 2nd tier. But that's just my opinion. Hope someone else can chime in and help.

I use credit karma to check my credit from time to time and an inquiry from nurse corps showed up on the report. Credit karma is free to use.
